The Pentecost... Zesłanie Ducha Świetego...

 

John 15:26-27,​16:12-15

The Spirit of truth will lead you to the complete truth

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘When the Advocate comes,

whom I shall send to you from the Father,

the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father,

he will be my witness.

And you too will be witnesses,

because you have been with me from the outset.

‘I still have many things to say to you

but they would be too much for you now.

But when the Spirit of truth comes

he will lead you to the complete truth,

since he will not be speaking as from himself

but will say only what he has learnt;

and he will tell you of the things to come.

He will glorify me,

since all he tells you

will be taken from what is mine.

Everything the Father has is mine;

that is why I said:

All he tells you

will be taken from what is mine.’

    Today we have 50 days from Easter Sunday and the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This VIII Sunday of Eastertide closes the whole time in the liturgy of the Paschal Mysteries. This day is celebrated by the whole Church as the Pentecost of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.

 

The whole work of the Death and the Resurrection is accomplished when Christ sends his promised gift from above. The Third Person of the Holy Trinity has become the power of believers. The proof of it is the Cenacle, where the Apostles were to pray and wait for the Spirit of carriage to preach the Gospel for all the nations, which were gathered in Jerusalem at that day. 

 

 

This event has become the ground-breaking time for the whole Church, the promise of Jesus has come true. The Advocate and Consoler is given for all the nations and all people of all the times. 

 

The Holy Spirit sanctifies us, strengthens us, bringing the power of Heaven. But what is very relevant, he is the Wisdom of God. He wants to advise us. The role of the Holy Spirit as Adviser. 

 

We are invited to hear his voice and listening to him. Why? Because he is doing, what God wants to, and God knows best, what we need. 

 

Probably we think about it many times. Why this world is so far from the situation of peace and joy, why people still fighting to each other? The expectation is so different of the reality, which we are living in. 

 

Maybe, this is a good time to put a question, how much do we listen to God and hear his voice? The whole Holy Trinity builds not ruins, gives peace not war and hatred, and what about us, if we build a new world on our own foundation without God? 

 

We are so disappointed, that this world is not perfect and different of our expectations. But when last I did listen to God? 

 

 

This Sunday of Pentecost encouraged us to follow Jesus Christ and His Spirit. Of course, we cannot change completely the reality, God can do it, but having been advised by the Holy Spirit, we may create this world a bit better. Amen. 

 

(J 15, 26-27; 16, 12-15) 

 Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: "Gdy przyjdzie Paraklet, którego Ja wam poślę od Ojca, Duch Prawdy, który od Ojca pochodzi, On zaświadczy o Mnie. Ale wy też świadczycie, bo jesteście ze Mną od początku. Jeszcze wiele mam wam do powiedzenia, ale teraz znieść nie możecie. Gdy zaś przyjdzie On, Duch Prawdy, doprowadzi was do całej prawdy. Bo nie będzie mówił od siebie, ale powie wszystko, cokolwiek usłyszy, i oznajmi wam rzeczy przyszłe. On Mnie otoczy chwałą, ponieważ z mojego weźmie i wam objawi. Wszystko, co ma Ojciec, jest moje. Dlatego powiedziałem, że z mojego weźmie i wam objawi".

    Dziś mamy 50 dni od Niedzieli Wielkanocnej i uroczystości Zmartwychwstania Jezusa Chrystusa. Niniejsza VIII Niedziela Wielkanocna zamyka cały czas w liturgii tajemnic paschalnych. Dzień ten obchodzony jest w całym Kościele jako Pięćdziesiątnica Zesłania Ducha Świętego.

 

Całe dzieło Śmierci i Zmartwychwstania dokonuje się, gdy Chrystus ześle z góry swój obiecany dar. Trzecia Osoba Trójcy Świętej stała się mocą wierzących. Dowodem na to jest Wieczernik, w którym Apostołowie mieli się modlić i czekać na Ducha Świętego, dzięki Któremu oni będą głosił Ewangelię wszystkim narodom zgromadzonym tego dnia w Jerozolimie.

 

 

Wydarzenie to stało się momentem przełomowym dla całego Kościoła, spełniła się obietnica Jezusa. Obrońca i Pocieszyciel jest dany wszystkim narodom i wszystkim ludziom wszystkich czasów.

 

Duch Święty nas uświęca, umacnia, niosąc moc Nieba. Ale co jest bardzo istotne, jest on Mądrością Bożą.  On chce nam doradzić. Rolą Ducha Świętego jest doradzanie.

 

Jesteśmy zaproszeni do usłyszenia Jego głosu i słuchania Go. Dlaczego? On prowadzi nas do Boga, a Bóg wie najlepiej, czego nam potrzeba.

 

Prawdopodobnie myśleliśmy o tym wiele razy. Dlaczego ten świat jest tak daleki od sytuacji pokoju i radości, dlaczego ludzie wciąż ze sobą walczą? Oczekiwania są zupełnie inne od rzeczywistości, w której żyjemy.

 

Może to dobry moment, aby postawić pytanie, na ile słuchamy Boga? Cała Trójca Święta nie buduje ruin, daje pokój, a nie wojnę i nienawiść, a co z nami, jeśli zbudujemy nowy świat na własnym fundamencie bez Boga?

 

Jesteśmy bardzo rozczarowani, że ten świat nie jest idealny i różni się od naszych oczekiwań.  Warto zadać sobie pytanie, kiedy ostatnio słuchałem Boga?

 

 

Ta niedziela Zesłania Ducha Świętego zachęca nas do podążania za Jezusem Chrystusem i Jego Duchem. Oczywiście nie jesteśmy w stanie całkowicie zmienić rzeczywistości, może to zrobić Bóg, ale za radą Ducha Świętego możemy stworzyć ten świat trochę lepszy. Amen.

Mark 16:15-20

Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News

Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them:

  ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

  And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it.

    This Sunday for the first time in Gibraltar we celebrate the Lord’s Accession, which the Book of the Apostles and the Gospel Mark are referring to. Jesus Christ is taken into Heaven to his Father to accomplish the work of his redemption.

 

For 40 days, after the Resurrection, Jesus showed himself to the Apostles, and those who had faith in his victory. Now, the time has come to leave the earth to take a place next to God. 

 

That moment of Jesus’ life was the consequence of his obedience and work for the sake of the human salvation. The Accession indicates the elevation of the human nature up to heaven. Today in the preface we read, every person is welcomed to the place, where is the Head the whole creation, Jesus Christ. This place is about the Kingdom of God. 

 

In this truth we can find the answer, what is my purpose of life about, whom I am going to? The solemnity makes us aware again, to join the place, where is the King, the Son of God. The call of holiness is not an exclusive way for the choose ones, but for all baptized. The Christianity it means the natural effort for heaven, which needs to be made. 

 

The Lord was taken from us, in the Gospel we read, he gave a commandment to his companions, to go and make new disciple of him. While we find this order, we may recognize our duty on earth, to live like him, to imitate his virtues. This is our way into heaven, to live devoutly and honestly, to bear good witness of him and gain other people. 

 

Primate Wyszynski who was ruling the Catholic Church in the Communist Poland, he was spying by the secret service, the microphones were everywhere in his apartment. One of the workers of him asked, Father what ca we do, if we are spying by our enemies. The cardinal answered, we need to live devoutly, they would find nothing against us. This situation is a bit humoristic, but it shows the real life of Christians. 

 

Let us to fix our eyes into heaven so often to make the desire of God’s Kingdom in us, for being faithful to God. Amen. 

(Mk 16, 15-20) 
Jezus, ukazawszy się Jedenastu, powiedział do nich: "Idźcie na cały świat i głoście Ewangelię wszelkiemu stworzeniu! Kto uwierzy i przyjmie chrzest, będzie zbawiony; a kto nie uwierzy, będzie potępiony. Te zaś znaki towarzyszyć będą tym, którzy uwierzą: w imię moje złe duchy będą wyrzucać, nowymi językami mówić będą; węże brać będą do rąk, i jeśliby co zatrutego wypili, nie będzie im szkodzić. Na chorych ręce kłaść będą, a ci odzyskają zdrowie". Po rozmowie z nimi Pan Jezus został wzięty do nieba i zasiadł po prawicy Boga. Oni zaś poszli i głosili Ewangelię wszędzie, a Pan współdziałał z nimi i potwierdzał naukę znakami, które jej towarzyszyły.

    W tą niedzielę po raz pierwszy na Gibraltarze obchodzimy Wniebowstąpienie Pana, do którego nawiązują Księga Dziejów Apostolskich i Ewangelia Marka. Jezus Chrystus zostaje zabrany do Nieba do Swego Ojca, aby dopełnić dzieła odkupienia.

 

Przez 40 dni po Zmartwychwstaniu Jezus ukazywał się Apostołom i tym, którzy wierzyli w Jego zwycięstwo. Teraz nadszedł czas opuszczenia ziemi i zajęcia miejsca obok Boga.

 

Ten moment życia Jezusa był konsekwencją Jego posłuszeństwa i pracy na rzecz zbawienia człowieka. Wniebowstąpienie Pańskie wskazuje na wyniesienie natury ludzkiej aż do nieba. Dziś w prefacji czytamy, że każdy człowiek jest oczekowany w miejscu, gdzie jest Głowa całego stworzenia, Jezus Chrystus. Tym miejscem jest Królestwo Boże.

 

W tym dniu odnajdujemy odpowiedź na pytanie: jaki jest cel mojego życia, do kogo idę? Uroczystość uświadamia nam na nowo, abyśmy dążyli do miejsca, gdzie jest Król, Syn Boży. Powołanie do świętości nie jest drogą wyłączną dla wybranych, ale dla wszystkich ochrzczonych. Chrześcijaństwo oznacza naturalny wysiłek dla nieba, który należy podjąć.

 

Pan został od nas wzięty. W czytanej przez nas Ewangelii, Jezus pozostawił  przykazanie swoim towarzyszom, aby zdobywali innych ludzi dla Niego. To wezwanie oznacza porządek, w którym odnajdujemy nasz obowiązek na ziemi, by żyć jak On, naśladować Jego cnoty. To jest nasza droga do nieba, aby żyć pobożnie i uczciwie, dawać o Nim dobre świadectwo i pozyskiwać innych ludzi.

 

Prymas Wyszyński, który rządził Kościołem katolickim w PRL, był szpiegowany przez tajne służby. W jego mieszkaniu wszędzie były mikrofony. Jeden z jego pracowników zapytał: ojcze, co możemy zrobić, jeśli podsłuchają nas nasi wrogowie. Kardynał odpowiedział: musimy żyć pobożnie, aby nie znaleźliby nic przeciwko nam. Ta sytuacja jest nieco humorystyczna, ale pokazuje prawdziwe życie chrześcijan.

 

Spoglądajmy często w niebo, aby wzbudzić w nas pragnienie Królestwa Bożego, będąc wierni Bogu. Amen.

Love and commandments... Miłość i przykazania...

 

John 15:9-17

You are my friends if you do what I command you

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘As the Father has loved me,

so I have loved you.

Remain in my love.

If you keep my commandments

you will remain in my love,

just as I have kept my Father’s commandments

and remain in his love.

I have told you this

so that my own joy may be in you

and your joy be complete.

This is my commandment:

love one another, as I have loved you.

A man can have no greater love

than to lay down his life for his friends.

You are my friends,

if you do what I command you.

I shall not call you servants any more,

because a servant does not know

his master’s business;

I call you friends,

because I have made known to you

everything I have learnt from my Father.

You did not choose me:

no, I chose you;

and I commissioned you

to go out and to bear fruit,

fruit that will last;

and then the Father will give you

anything you ask him in my name.

What I command you

is to love one another.’

    The Gospel of John, which is given to us, it is a monolog of Jesus Christ, the Lord brings the message about love and his commandments. He puts an equal sign in the between his love and the observances of our faith. 

 

A man listening about the commandments, he becomes a bit or completely resistant to this. How could be, if the faith is about something voluntary, God is the person of freedom, how someone can limit me? 

 

 

The modern society does not see the connectivity of love to the teaching of God and the church. 

 

Meditating the Gospel and the Lord’s words deeper, we can find the real meaning of the dependency of love, freedom and commandments.

 

St. Augustin, the bishop of Hippo said; “love and do whatever you want”. It seems to, like a philosophy of none of rules. The great Doctor of the catholic faith understood that phrase, if you truly love, you never harm doing the evil to the other ones. 

 

Jesus knows, the rules of him do not allow to destroy, persecute, enslave and hatred another person, because the real love brings freedom and respect. 

 

Very often the “freedom” without any observances makes me selfish at the price of “slavery” of someone, taking over the right of a man to being free. It seems to a bit confusing, but in the reality many people suffer, because of the entitlement of some. 

 

The global problem we have, the rich countries need to have more, at the price of the poor ones, and those the second countries have not the fundamental resources, like food, education, the heath service. This is sad, but it is the issue of the Lord’s teaching, to love and to observe the commandments, to other people at least have the fundamental rights. 

 

Love and do whatever you want, but in the name of the true love, which never allows to harm, but it blesses and respects. Amen.   

 

(J 15, 9-17) 
Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: "Jak Mnie umiłował Ojciec, tak i Ja was umiłowałem. Trwajcie w miłości mojej! Jeśli będziecie zachowywać moje przykazania, będziecie trwać w miłości mojej, tak jak Ja zachowałem przykazania Ojca mego i trwam w Jego miłości. To wam powiedziałem, aby radość moja w was była i aby radość wasza była pełna. To jest moje przykazanie, abyście się wzajemnie miłowali, tak jak Ja was umiłowałem. Nikt nie ma większej miłości od tej, gdy ktoś życie swoje oddaje za przyjaciół swoich. Wy jesteście przyjaciółmi moimi, jeżeli czynicie to, co wam przykazuję. Już was nie nazywam sługami, bo sługa nie wie, co czyni jego pan, ale nazwałem was przyjaciółmi, albowiem oznajmiłem wam wszystko, co usłyszałem od Ojca mego. Nie wy Mnie wybraliście, ale Ja was wybrałem i przeznaczyłem was na to, abyście szli i owoc przynosili, i by owoc wasz trwał – aby Ojciec dał wam wszystko, o cokolwiek Go poprosicie w imię moje. To wam przykazuję, abyście się wzajemnie miłowali".

    

    Ewangelia Jana, która jest nam dana, jest monologiem Jezusa Chrystusa, niosąca przesłanie o miłości i przykazaniach. Nauczyciel stawia znak równości pomiędzy miłością a przestrzeganiem zasad naszej wiary.

 

Człowiek słuchający przykazań staje się nieco sceptyczny  lub całkowicie oporny względem wymagań naszej wiary. Jak to możliwe, jeśli wiara opiera się na dobrowolności, Bóg jest osobą wolności, jak ktoś może mnie ograniczać?

 

 

Współczesne społeczeństwo nie widzi związku miłości z nauczaniem Boga i Kościoła.

 

Jednak rozważając głębiej Ewangelię i słowa Pana, możemy odnaleźć prawdziwy sens zależności  pomiędzy miłością, wolnością i przykazaniami.

 

Św. Augustyn, biskup Hippony powiedział; „kochaj i rób, co chcesz”. Wygląda na to, że jest to filozofia, która nie ma żadnych zasad. Wielki Doktor katolickiej wiary rozumiał to zdanie następująco: jeśli naprawdę kochasz, nigdy nie będziesz krzywdzisz, wyrządzając zło innym.

 

Jezus wie, że Jego zasady nie pozwalają niszczyć, prześladować, zniewalać i nienawidzić drugiego człowieka, bo prawdziwa miłość przynosi wolność i szacunek.

 

Słuchajcie bardzo często o „wolności” bez żadnych zasad, czyni mnie to samolubnym za cenę „niewolnictwa” kogoś, i ograniczenia prawa do bycia wolnym innych . Wydaje się to nieco mylące, ale w rzeczywistości wiele osób cierpi z powodu nieskrępowanych praw innych.

 

Mamy problem globalny, kraje bogate “muszą” mieć więcej, kosztem biednych, a te drugie nie mają podstawowych zasobów, jak żywność, edukacja, służba zdrowia. To smutne, Bóg naucza, aby kochać i przestrzegać przykazań, aby inni ludzie mieli chociaż podstawowe prawa.

 

Kochaj i rób co chcesz, ale w imię prawdziwej miłości, która nigdy nie pozwala krzywdzić, lecz błogosławi i szanuje. Amen.
