The Lord's Presentation... Ofiarowanie Pańskie...

 

Luke 2:22-40

‘The child grew, filled with wisdom.’

When the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, the parents of Jesus brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, ‘Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord’) and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, ‘a pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons’.

  Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the Temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

‘Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,

according to your word;

for my eyes have seen your salvation

that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles,

and for glory to your people Israel.’

And his father and his mother marvelled at what was said about him. And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed — and a sword will pierce through your own soul also — so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.’

  And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the Temple, worshipping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

  And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favour of God was upon him.

    The Feast of the of the Lord’s Presentation we celebrate 40 days after the Celebration of the Christ’s Nativity. 

 

The situation from the Gospel of Luke presents the Holy Family, which

 

Mary and Joseph, they were not wealth off, they had very little, so they offered the pair of doves. 

 

After the ritual obligation they met two people, Simeon and Anna, who had been dedicated to the Temple of God. Those people had a unique grace to meet the Messiah, the Son of God, who would have been offered to people to redeem them. The attitude of Simeon and Anna may compel the respect, because the commitment of them to the Lord. They spent a lot of time with God, especially Anna, who had offered herself in the temple for the days and nights, praying and fasting. 

 

The perseverance and faith were rewarded, they saw the Christ, expecting him for many years. It was the happiest day for them, to see Jesus, the Messiah of Israel. The joy of them was so powerful, nothing did not matter, except the fact of seeing Christ. 

 

Today we do not need to wait for the Lord, because he is waiting in his temple in the Tabernacle in the Blessed Sacrament. Since the Holy Eucharist was instituted, he is there. We do not need a special audience to come and see, but we are welcome to knell down and adore him in the white host. 

 

So many people in the past and those, who are the present day, they have been immersed into the Eucharistic Jesus, offering so much time, the time which is the most expecting by them. 

 

Nowadays people adore the Lord 24 hours a day, for example the contemplative nuns, which the main charisma is about to pray the whole day and night. There are churches open 24 hours for the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, we are blessed here having the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist every morning and afternoon during the week in the Cathedral. People like Simeon and Anna, they gather to pray and to fill their hearts of the presence of Jesus Christ.

Symeon zaś błogosławił ich i rzekł do Maryi, Matki Jego: „Oto Ten przeznaczony jest na upadek i na powstanie wielu w Izraelu i na znak, któremu sprzeciwiać się będą. A Twoją duszę miecz przeniknie, aby na jaw wyszły zamysły serc wielu”. Była tam również prorokini Anna, córka Fanuela z pokolenia Asera, bardzo podeszła w latach. Od swego panieństwa siedem lat żyła z mężem i pozostała wdową. Liczyła już osiemdziesiąty czwarty rok życia. Nie rozstawała się ze świątynią, służąc Bogu w postach i modlitwach dniem i nocą. Sytuacja z Ewangelii Łukasza przedstawia Świętą Rodzinę, która wypełniła obowiązek Starego Testamentu, które zobowiązywało: każdy pierworodny syn miał zostać ofiarowany Panu, jako poddany Narodu Pańskiego. Tradycja Prawa zobowiązywała do złożenia w ofierze baranka, a jeśli ktoś był ubogi, pary gołębi lub synogarlic.

 

Maryja i Józef nie byli bogaci, mieli bardzo mało, więc złożyli w ofierze parę gołębi.

 

Po spełnieniu rytualnego obowiązku spotkali dwie osoby, Symeona i Annę, którzy zostali poświęceni Świątyni Bożej. Spędzali oni dużo czasu z Bogiem, szczególnie Anna, która ofiarowała czas w świątyni we dnie i noce, modląc się i poszcząc.

 

Wytrwałość i wiara zostały nagrodzone, to oni ujrzeli Chrystusa, oczekując Go przez wiele lat. Był to dla nich najszczęśliwszy dzień, zobaczyć Jezusa, Mesjasza Izraela. Radość była tak potężna, że ​​nic nie miało znaczenia, poza faktem zobaczenia Syna Bożego.

 

Dzisiaj nie musimy czekać na Pana, ponieważ On czeka w Swojej świątyni w Tabernakulum w Najświętszym Sakramencie. Od czasu ustanowienia Najświętszej Eucharystii, On tam jest.
