Blessed... Błogosławieni...

 

Luke 6:17, 20-26

             ‘Blessed are you who are poor. Woe to you who are rich.’

At that time: Jesus came down with the Twelve and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon. And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile you, and spurn your name as evil on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.’

    The Lord gives us quite known chapter of the Luke’s Gospel, which presents to us the Sermon about the Beatitudes. Every time if we read this fragment of the Holy Scripture, we think, is it possible to live according to these words of Christ?

Of course, the teaching from the Gospel may raise some doubts and the interior conflict, because it does not fit to the modern life, while the power is about the violence, controlling, ruling. And Jesus says on the contrary, you need to be a man of peace, humbleness, justice and pour in heart.

These doubts may happen, every person wants to live with a successful life, to aim happiness and satisfaction. But the words of Christ are possible, if I put my life into the Jesus’ hands, who wants our joy and peace in a different way, in the sphere of his love and justice. There are people, who build own live on the Gospel, and they do not feel, that they are dispensed of anything which makes them worthy. Choosing Christ, we need to be ready to for the feeling of a loss, because not all things are compliant with Christianity.

 

The Gospel and the Beatitudes put to us another question, do I rely and offer my trust in this world, or giving some sacrifice I am looking forward to the Kingdom of God?

This is the fundamental question, what do I expect from my daily life, and do I understand, that for now it is a way to something what we call the Resurrection and Redemption?

This is all about the constant question mark, what is my hope, and where do I invest my human being, on earth, or in heaven. The answer to this is important, because the only Salvation in Jesus Christ may bring the ability to accept the Beatitudes.

Life is so short, and the life with God is eternal. Amen.

Jezus zszedł z Dwunastoma na dół i zatrzymał się na równinie; był tam liczny tłum Jego uczniów i wielkie mnóstwo ludu z całej Judei i z Jeruzalem oraz z nadmorskich okolic Tyru i Sydonu. On podniósł oczy na swoich uczniów i mówił: "Błogosławieni jesteście, ubodzy, albowiem do was należy królestwo Boże. Błogosławieni, którzy teraz głodujecie, albowiem będziecie nasyceni. Błogosławieni, którzy teraz płaczecie, albowiem śmiać się będziecie. Błogosławieni jesteście, gdy ludzie was znienawidzą i gdy was wyłączą spośród siebie, gdy zelżą was i z powodu Syna Człowieczego odrzucą z pogardą wasze imię jako niecne: cieszcie się i radujcie w owym dniu, bo wielka jest wasza nagroda w niebie. Tak samo bowiem przodkowie ich czynili prorokom. Natomiast biada wam, bogaczom, bo odebraliście już pociechę waszą. Biada wam, którzy teraz jesteście syci, albowiem głód cierpieć będziecie. Biada wam, którzy się teraz śmiejecie, albowiem smucić się i płakać będziecie. Biada wam, gdy wszyscy ludzie chwalić was będą. Tak samo bowiem przodkowie ich czynili fałszywym prorokom".

    Pan daje nam dość znany rozdział Ewangelii Łukasza, który przedstawia nam Kazanie o Błogosławieństwach. Za każdym razem, gdy czytamy ten fragment Pisma Świętego, myślimy, czy można żyć według tych słów Chrystusa?

Oczywiście, nauka z Ewangelii może budzić pewne wątpliwości i wewnętrzny konflikt, ponieważ nie pasuje ono do współczesnego życia, podczas gdy władza styka się z przemocą, kontrolowaniem, rządzeniem. A Jezus mówi wręcz przeciwnie, trzeba być człowiekiem pokoju, pokory, sprawiedliwości i ubogiego serca.

Te wątpliwości mogą się zdarzyć, każdy człowiek chce przeżyć pięknie swoje życie, dążyć do szczęścia i satysfakcji. Ale słowa Chrystusa są możliwe, jeśli oddam swoje życie w ręce Jezusa, który pragnie naszej radości i pokoju w inny sposób, w sferze Swojej miłości i sprawiedliwości. Są tacy ludzie, którzy budują swoje życie na Ewangelii i nie czują, że są pozbawieni czegokolwiek, co czyni ich godnymi. Wybierając Chrystusa, musimy być gotowi na poczucie straty, ponieważ nie wszystkie rzeczy są zgodne z chrześcijaństwem.

Ewangelia i Błogosławieństwa stawiają nam kolejne pytanie, czy polegam i ofiarowuję moją ufność temu światu, czy też składam jakąś ofiarę wyczekując Królestwa Bożego?

To jest podstawowe pytanie, czego oczekuję od mojego codziennego życia i czy rozumiem, że na razie jest to droga do czegoś, co nazywamy Zmartwychwstaniem i Odkupieniem. 

Chodzi o ciągły znak zapytania, jaka jest moja nadzieja i gdzie inwestuję moją ludzką istotę, na ziemi czy w niebie. Odpowiedź na to jest ważna, ponieważ jedynie Zbawienie w Jezusie Chrystusie może przynieść zdolność do przyjęcia Błogosławieństw.

Życie jest tak krótkie, a życie z Bogiem jest wieczne. Amen.
