Luke 2:16-21

The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found the baby lying in the manger

The shepherds hurried away to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; it was exactly as they had been told.

  When the eighth day came and the child was to be circumcised, they gave him the name Jesus, the name the angel had given him before his conception.

   Celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, we may notice, the liturgy shows the Beauty of the Motherhood.

 Blessed Mary the Mother of God takes part in the God’s plan, giving Jesus. Her “yes” gave the Son of God; the man has answered for the Lords call. The Holy Family was sanctified by God, taking part in his work of Salvation. 

 

The truth and the dignity of the Motherhood and parenthood have great meaning in the sigh of God, while we are experiencing the crisis of being a mother or a father. 

Every woman being called as a mother, she has special place in God’s heart. The Lord is the Creator, the Giver of life, and the motherhood is the key thing and fulfilment of his will to give a new life. Of course, the father gives the begging of a new life, but the mother carries by 9 months of own child. 

 

This Solemnity brings hope, that the natural order of the humanity is not an old-fashioned stile, which is “no fitting” to the modern world, but this is the eternal plan of God, which makes women distinguish persons, who should be treated with great dignity and respect. God became man, making great dignity of Mary as the Mother. 

 

Thanks be to God for every mother, for our mothers, who carried of us day and night, bestowing us with love and safety. 

 

Let us pray for those women, who lost their children, because of different reasons, for example by the miscarriage, having had a great pain in heart. 

 

Let us pray for the expected mothers, especially for those who are in fear of their children in the situation of danger. And may our prayer embrace those women, crying for their sons and daughters, asking for the life change, as St. Monica did, praying for the conversion of Augustin.

 

Blessed be God for every mother and the motherhood. Our Lady of Europe and Mother of God pray for us. Amen. A Blessed and happy New Year 2021.

Błogosławiona Maryja, Matka Boża, uczestniczy w Bożym, dając Jezusa. Jej „tak” dało Syna Bożego; człowiek odpowiedział na wezwanie Stwórcy. Święta Rodzina została uświęcona przez Boga, biorąc udział w Jego dziele zbawienia.

 

Godność Macierzyństwa i rodzicielstwa ma wielkie znaczenie w oczach Boga, szczególnie tak prawda ma ogromne znaczenie, kiedy przeżywamy kryzys bycia matką lub ojcem.

Każda kobieta, nazywana matką, zajmuje szczególne miejsce w sercu Boga. Pan jest Stwórcą, Dawcą życia, a macierzyństwo jest sprawą kluczową i wypełnieniem Jego woli, dając nowe życie. Oczywiście ojciec daje początek nowemu życiu, ale matka przez 9 miesięcy nosi nowe dziecko w swoim łonie.

 

Ta uroczystość niesie nadzieję, że naturalny porządek ludzkości nie jest staromodnym stylem, który „nie pasuje” do współczesnego świata, ale jest to odwieczny plan Boga, który sprawia, że ​​kobiety są wyróżnionymi osobami, które powinny być traktowane z wielką godnością i szacunkiem. Bóg stał się człowiekiem, dając Maryi wielką godność Matki.

 

Bogu niech będą dzięki za każdą matkę, za nasze matki, które troszczyły się nami dzień i noc, obdarzając nas miłością i bezpieczeństwem.

 

Módlmy się za te kobiety, które z różnych przyczyn straciły dzieci, na przykład przez poronienie, mając wielki ból serca.

 

Módlmy się za matki w stanie błogosławionym, zwłaszcza za te, które boją się o niebezpieczeństwo swoich dzieci. Niech nasza modlitwa ogarnie te kobiety, które płaczą za swoimi synami i córkami, prosząc o przemianę życia, tak jak czyniła to św. Monika, modląc się o nawrócenie Augustyna.

 

Niech będzie błogosławiony Bóg za każdą matkę i macierzyństwo. Królowo Europy z Gibraltaru i Matko Boża, módlcie się za nami. Amen.

Luke 2:22-40

My eyes have seen your salvation

When the day came for them to be purified as laid down by the Law of Moses, the parents of Jesus took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, – observing what stands written in the Law of the Lord: Every first-born male must be consecrated to the Lord – and also to offer in sacrifice, in accordance with what is said in the Law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

  Now in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was an upright and devout man; he looked forward to Israel’s comforting and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit he came to the Temple and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:

‘Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace,

just as you promised;

because my eyes have seen the salvation

which you have prepared for all the nations to see,

a light to enlighten the pagans

and the glory of your people Israel.’

As the child’s father and mother stood there wondering at the things that were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘You see this child: he is destined for the fall and for the rising of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is rejected – and a sword will pierce your own soul too – so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

  There was a prophetess also, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was well on in years. Her days of girlhood over, she had been married for seven years before becoming a widow. She was now eighty-four years old and never left the Temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayer. She came by just at that moment and began to praise God; and she spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem.

  When they had done everything the Law of the Lord required, they went back to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. Meanwhile the child grew to maturity, and he was filled with wisdom; and God’s favour was with him.

   We are still celebrating the Nativity of Jesus in the Christmas Octave. Today, in the liturgy of the Church, we can celebrate the Feast of The Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. When we look at the history of the Incarnation and the Crib, we can notice that Mary and Joseph participated in the God’s Plan since the conception of Jesus until His mature life. 

 

In this God's plan we may discover a very important truth: God wanted to be born and exist among all people, and be part of a family.  He had chosen Mary and Joseph. 

 

The truth about the family of Jesus encourages us to look at our families. A family is the fundament of our society, built by a man, a woman and children. Jesus Christ shows that the real community we can find in a family. 

Everything starts there, a vocation to life and our upbringing. 

Family is the first school of faith and life. In the Gospel according to Luke, we read: "He then went down with them and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority" Lk 2, 51. 

 

Unbelievable, Jesus as God was under authority of His parents. It indicates a very crucial issue that parents give new life and teach us about faith and life. That's true; parents are our first teachers of faith and life. I think we have the same experience, everything what we learned about principles, was taught by our parents. This is a very important duty of parents. Child’s spirituality is formed by those, who are responsible for it.  Nobody can release parents from their responsibility. My mom and dad became my teachers and mentors. Nobody can take their over their place in a child’s life. 

 

If a family is so important, we have to protect and defend it against the temptations of evil. Many people want to change the nature and definition of a family for their own business. One of the visionaries and witnesses of Fatima, nun Lucia Santos, who died in 2005, said; the power of devil and evil want to destroy a family, because it is the last bastion of God, Christianity and normality. Today, we are witnesses of some furious and fervent attacks on a family.  Some people try to change the definition of a family, and challenge its traditional meaning, as the communion between a man and a woman. 

We need to pray for our families, because they are in crisis. Today we face many divorcees, lack of church weddings, and many different substitutes of a marriage and family.  We must protect and defend it, because as many people say, this is the last God's Bastion of common sense. 

A family has its important place in the God’s plan. The Son of God wanted to be born in a family. 

 

Let's pray for our families and all families in the world, because they are the places where our humanity may grow. Do not forget to be thankfully to your parents for their efforts. Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us.

Gdy upłynęły dni ich oczyszczenia według Prawa Mojżeszowego, Rodzice przynieśli Jezusa do Jerozolimy, aby przedstawić Go Panu. A gdy Rodzice wnosili dzieciątko Jezus, aby postąpić z Nim według zwyczaju Prawa, on wziął Je w objęcia, błogosławił Boga i mówił: "Teraz, o Władco, pozwalasz odejść słudze Twemu w pokoju, według Twojego słowa. Bo moje oczy ujrzały Twoje zbawienie, które przygotowałeś wobec wszystkich narodów: światło na oświecenie pogan i chwałę ludu Twego, Izraela". A Jego ojciec i Matka dziwili się temu, co o Nim mówiono. Symeon zaś błogosławił ich i rzekł do Maryi, Matki Jego: «Oto Ten przeznaczony jest na upadek i na powstanie wielu w Izraelu, i na znak, któremu sprzeciwiać się będą – a Twoją duszę miecz przeniknie – aby na jaw wyszły zamysły serc wielu». Była tam również prorokini Anna, córka Fanuela z pokolenia Asera, bardzo podeszła w latach. Od swego panieństwa siedem lat żyła z mężem i pozostała wdową. Liczyła już sobie osiemdziesiąt cztery lata. Kiedy patrzymy na historię Wcielenia, możemy zauważyć, że Maryja i Józef uczestniczyli w planie Bożym od poczęcia Jezusa aż do Jego dojrzałego życia.

 

W tym planie Bożym możemy odkryć bardzo ważną prawdę: Bóg chciał się narodzić i istnieć wśród wszystkich ludzi, być częścią rodziny. Wybrał Marię i Józefa.

 

Prawda o rodzinie Jezusa zachęca nas do spojrzenia na nasze rodziny. Rodzina jest fundamentem naszego społeczeństwa, zbudowanego przez mężczyznę, kobietę i dzieci. Jezus Chrystus pokazuje, że prawdziwą wspólnotę możemy znaleźć w rodzinie.

Tutaj wszystko się zaczyna, powołanie do życia i nasze wychowanie.

Rodzina to pierwsza szkoła wiary i życia. W Ewangelię według św. Łukasza czytamy: „potem poszedł z nimi, przybył do Nazaretu i był im posłuszny” Łk 2, 51.

 

Jezus jako Bóg podlegał władzy Swoich rodziców. Wskazuje na bardzo istotną kwestię, rodzice dają nowe życie i uczą nas wiary i życia. To prawda; rodzice są naszymi pierwszymi nauczycielami wiary i życia. Myślę, że mamy to samo doświadczenie, wszystkiego czego nauczyliśmy się o zasadach, jest to zasługa rodziców. Duchowość dziecka kształtują ci, którzy są za nią odpowiedzialni. Nikt nie może zwolnić rodziców z ich odpowiedzialności. Moja mama i tata zostali moimi nauczycielami i mentorami. Nikt nie może przejąć ich miejsca w życiu dziecka.

 

Jeśli rodzina jest tak ważna, musimy ją chronić i bronić przed pokusami zła. Wiele osób chce zmienić charakter i definicję rodziny dla własnych celów. Luke 2:1-14

'In the town of David a saviour has been born to you'

Caesar Augustus issued a decree for a census of the whole world to be taken. This census – the first – took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria, and everyone went to his own town to be registered. So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee and travelled up to Judaea, to the town of David called Bethlehem, since he was of David’s House and line, in order to be registered together with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn. 

  In the countryside close by there were shepherds who lived in the fields and took it in turns to watch their flocks during the night. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid. Listen, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly with the angel there was a great throng of the heavenly host, praising God and singing:

‘Glory to God in the highest heaven,

and peace to men who enjoy his favour.’

   „The Word became flesh”, these words from the Gospel of John, and from the Prolog, sound with power and glory. Today we celebrate the Nativity of Christ, the Solemnity, for which we have expected over 3 weeks. The Mother Church announces, yes, the Miracle of Bethlehem has done. The Eternal God had received the human nature, becoming one of us. The eyes of the whole world turn towards Bethlehem, to the city of the Holy Land, which 2000 years ago was completely forgotten and ignored. God choice the place rejecting by people, and the contemporary elite of Jerusalem. God chooses what is invisible for man, or unworthy to notice. 

 

The Great Plan of God’s Redemption has started in Bethlehem, when the Child of Jesus was born of Mary in the stable among the animals. This moment and evening caused one the biggest celebration for Christian, and for the people of good will, who celebrate this event, too. 

 

As a great Family of God, we are invited to share with the Church of this joy and happiness, that the Son of God dwelt among us. The common sense of the Celebration of Christmas is to experience the real presence of him in me and others. 

 

 Normally the celebration of the Nativity of Christ takes place on the two levels. Because of the different circumstances, we can celebrate the liturgy, here, this year. It makes us very sad and do often tense, but other hand, we are looking forward to more certain times, to celebrate in fully. 

 

 The first level, mentioned by me, it is about our celebration of the liturgy, in the church. The Mystery of the Incarnation becomes the truth in our private and liturgical prayer. On the regular base we say the words from the Credo, (Jesus) “and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and become man…”, and afterwards we kneel down, to give praise to God. 

 

Attending at Mass, we make visible the presence of him. Jesus Christ is coming in his word and on this alter, in the sign of the bread and wine. One the Popes (St. Paul John II), said, no place is so important, the same Christ is born in a small church in village or in a big cathedral or basilic, the same Mystery of Bethlehem is done, through the Most Holy Sacrifice of God, the Eucharist. On these days we are missing for the liturgy, because of the circumstances, which we are living now, therefore the second level of our celebration is so important, this year.  

 

 

The other level of our celebration is the family. We often say, Christmas is so familiar feast, yes indeed. The continuation of the liturgical celebration is common table at home and the community of my relatives.  On the daily base, we complain, I have no time for the family, I am so busy, so much work. These days are given to maintain our relationships. Jesus is born within us, let us invite him to our table, spending together time in peace and joy. As I said a couple days ago, it is a good occasion talk to someone, to whom I have not talked in ages, because of the deferent reasons. The Nativity of Christ and the celebration give chance to forgive and to be united with those, who are so far from us.  

 

May the Annual Celebration of Christ’s Nativity be experienced by us through the home liturgy and the family community. A Blessed and peaceful Christmas. Feliz Navidad. Amen.

W owym czasie wyszło rozporządzenie Cezara Augusta, żeby przeprowadzić spis ludności w całym świecie. Pierwszy ten spis odbył się wówczas, gdy wielkorządcą Syrii był Kwiryniusz. Podążali więc wszyscy, aby się dać zapisać, każdy do swego miasta. A to będzie znakiem dla was: znajdziecie Niemowlę owinięte w pieluszki i leżące w żłobie". I nagle przyłączyło się do anioła mnóstwo zastępów niebieskich, które wielbiły Boga słowami: "Chwała Bogu na wysokościach, a na ziemi pokój ludziom, w których sobie upodobał".

  

   „Słowo stało się ciałem”, te słowa z Ewangelii Jana, z Prologu, brzmią z mocą i chwałą. Dziś obchodzimy Boże Narodzenie, Uroczystość, na którą czekaliśmy ponad 3 tygodnie. Matka Kościół ogłasza, tak, dokonał się Cud Betlejemski. Odwieczny Bóg przyjął ludzką naturę, stając się jednym z nas. Oczy całego świata kierują się w stronę Betlejem, miasta w Ziemi Świętej, które 2000 lat temu zostało całkowicie zapomniane i zignorowane. Bóg wybrał miejsce odrzucone przez ludzi i współczesną elitę Jerozolimy. Zbawca wybiera to, co dla człowieka jest niewidzialne lub niewarte uwagi.

 

Wielki Plan Odkupienia Bożego rozpoczął się w Betlejem, gdzie w stajni pośród zwierząt z Maryi narodziło się Dzieciątko Jezus. Ta chwila i wieczór stały się jedną z największych uroczystości dla chrześcijan, a także dla ludzi dobrej woli, którzy obchodzą to wydarzenie.

 

Jako wielka Rodzina Boża jesteśmy wezwani do dzielenia się z Kościołem radością i szczęściem, że Syn Boży mieszkał wśród nas. Głównym przesłaniem obchodów Bożego Narodzenia jest doświadczenie prawdziwej obecności Jego we mnie i innych.

 

 Zwykle celebracja Narodzenia Chrystusa odbywa się na dwóch poziomach. Przede wszystkim obchodzimy uroczystości w liturgii, w kościele. Tajemnica Wcielenia staje się prawdą w naszej modlitwie prywatnej i liturgicznej. Regularnie wypowiadamy słowa z Credo, (Jezus) „przez Ducha Świętego został wcielony z Maryi Dziewicy i stał się człowiekiem…”, wyznając wiarę i klękamy, aby oddać chwałę Bogu.

 

Uczestnicząc we Mszy św., uwidaczniamy Jego obecność. Jezus Chrystus przychodzi w swoim słowie i na tym ołtarzu, pod znakiem chleba i wina. Jeden z Papieży (św. Paweł Jan II) powiedział, że każde miejsce jest tak samo ważne, ten sam Chrystus rodzi się w małym kościele na wsi, w dużej katedrze lub bazylice, ta sama Tajemnica Betlejemska jest dokonywana przez Najświętszą Ofiarę Boga, w Eucharystii. 

 

Drugi poziom naszej celebracji to rodzina. Często mówimy, że Boże Narodzenie to rodzinne święto. Kontynuacją celebracji liturgicznej jest wspólny stół w domu i wspólnota moich bliskich. Na co dzień narzekamy, brak czasu dla rodziny, jestem tak zajęta, dużo pracy. Te dni są dane, aby utrzymać nasze relacje. Jezus narodził się w nas, zapraszamy Go do naszego stołu, spędzając razem czas w pokoju i radości. Jak powiedziałem kilka dni temu, jest to dobra okazja, aby porozmawiać z kimś, z kim nie rozmawiałem od wieków z różnych powodów. Narodzenie Chrystusa i celebracja świąt dają szansę przebaczenia i zjednoczenia się z tymi, którzy są tak daleko od nas.

 

Niech doroczne obchody Narodzenia Chrystusa będą przez nas przeżywane przez liturgię i wspólnotę rodzinną. Błogosławionych i spokojnych Świąt Bożego Narodzenia. Feliz Navidad. Amen.

Luke 1:26-38

'I am the handmaid of the Lord'

The angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, so highly favoured! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I am a virgin?’ ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you’ the angel answered ‘and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. Know this too: your kinswoman Elizabeth has, in her old age, herself conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord,’ said Mary ‘let what you have said be done to me.’ And the angel left her.

   The Forth Sunday of Advent leads us to the house of Mary in Nazareth. It was a special time for her, because as the Gospel of Luke reports, she got married to Joseph and the time to dwell with her spouse came. All the sudden, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to and said: Rejoice, who are blessed among the women, you have found the God’s favour. The message from heaven made Mary very confused, she felt joy, but at the same time confusion and fear. 

 

Why she was so nervous? She was chosen by God, to be the Mother of Jesus, what is a great privilege. Yes, it is a privilege, but we need to understand the whole situation, because it was a big test for her faith and humility. 

 

Mary was married to Joseph, they planned their life, but one day God changed everything. How could Mary explain the whole situation to her husband? From the human point of view, it’s a challenge to say: I am the chosen one, I was chosen by God. We must emphasize one thing more; this situation might have had very serious consequences. Mary could have been sentenced to death for the supposed breaking of marital fidelity.

 

But Mary said “yes” without any concern of her safety. ” Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word”. The Word became flesh, and the Incarnation of God’s Son was done. Thanks to her attitude, we are now beneficients of the Redemption. 

 

The scene of the Angel’s Annunciation concerns our life. Gabriel becomes the Advocate of God. In this Advent time, he comes saying that the miracle of Nazareth may be repeated, again. Accept and receive the Son of God, he wants to celebrate this festivity with you, welcome Him to your heart, to your family. God does not want to disturb you but make this time more solemn and full of joy and happiness. It is not His desire to be so far, but close to you. 

 

Christmas is not the time of loneliness but community. It’s crucial to help the sick, elderly, vulnerable and poor people. Jesus Christ does not want us to be lonely. It is a great chance and occasion to speak to those with whom we haven’t talked for ages because of different reasons.

In my homeland, there is the old tradition on Christmas Vigil Day. While we prepare the evening dinner for the family, we put one plate more for an unexpected guest, for a pilgrim or a homeless person. 

This feast should unite not divide. Let us do as much as possible, so that Jesus Christ may celebrate this time with us in joy and peace. Amen.

Bóg posłał anioła Gabriela do miasta w Galilei, zwanego Nazaret, do dziewicy poślubionej mężowi imieniem Józef, z rodu Dawida; a dziewicy było na imię Maryja. Na to Maryja rzekła do anioła: "Jakże się to stanie, skoro nie znam męża?" Anioł Jej odpowiedział: "Duch Święty zstąpi na Ciebie i moc Najwyższego okryje Cię cieniem. Dlatego też Święte, które się narodzi, będzie nazwane Synem Bożym. a oto również krewna Twoja, Elżbieta, poczęła w swej starości syna i jest już w szóstym miesiącu ta, którą miano za niepłodną. Dla Boga bowiem nie ma nic niemożliwego". Na to rzekła Maryja: "Oto ja służebnica Pańska, niech mi się stanie według słowa twego". Wtedy odszedł od Niej Anioł.

Czwarta Niedziela Adwentu prowadzi nas do domu Maryi w Nazarecie, gdzie Najświętsza Dziewica prowadzi swoje codzienne życie. Był to dla niej szczególny czas, ponieważ jak podaje Ewangelia Łukasza, była już mężatką Józefa i to był moment, aby zamieszkać ze swoim małżonkiem. Nagle, podczas codziennych obowiązków Maryi, ukazał się Jej Archanioł Gabriel, mówiąc: Raduj się, błogosławiona między niewiastami, znalazłaś łaskę Bożą. Orędzie z nieba bardzo zdezorientowało Maryję, w sercu zapanowało uczucie radości, zagubienia i strachu.

Dlaczego Ona była zmieszana, wybrana przez Boga na Matkę Jezusa, to taki wielki przywilej? Tak, to przywilej, ale musimy zrozumieć całą sytuację, to był wielki sprawdzian jej wiary i pokory.

 Maria wyszła za mąż za Józefa, oboje planowali wspólne życie i pewnego dnia Bóg zmienił wszystko, nie Józef będzie ojcem jej dziecka, ale Bóg. Jak mogła wyjaśnić mężowi całą sytuację? Z ludzkiego punktu widzenia i wierności małżeńskiej to było wyzwanie. John 1:6-8,19-28

'There stands among you the one coming after me'

A man came, sent by God.

His name was John.

He came as a witness,

as a witness to speak for the light,

so that everyone might believe through him.

He was not the light,

only a witness to speak for the light.

This is how John appeared as a witness. When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ‘Who are you?’ he not only declared, but he declared quite openly, ‘I am not the Christ.’ ‘Well then,’ they asked ‘are you Elijah?’ ‘I am not’ he said. ‘Are you the Prophet?’ He answered, ‘No.’ So they said to him, ‘Who are you? We must take back an answer to those who sent us. What have you to say about yourself?’ So John said, ‘I am, as Isaiah prophesied:

a voice that cries in the wilderness:

Make a straight way for the Lord.’

Now these men had been sent by the Pharisees, and they put this further question to him, ‘Why are you baptising if you are not the Christ, and not Elijah, and not the prophet?’ John replied, ‘I baptise with water; but there stands among you – unknown to you – the one who is coming after me; and I am not fit to undo his sandal-strap.’ This happened at Bethany, on the far side of the Jordan, where John was baptising.

Today, we celebrate the Third Sunday Of Adventwhich is traditionally called The Sunday of Gaudete, what means the Day of Rejoice. What is the reasonof this rejoice? The Mother Church with her old tradition emphasizes the truth that the Lord is coming, and the Latin word, “Gaudete”, indicates thehappiness due to the Nativity of Christ. Yes, the Lord is near because soon we will be celebrating the Mystery of the Incarnation of God’s Son. 

 

During the today’s Mass and the Liturgy of the WordI would like to focus on the Second Reading from theSt. Paul’s Letter to the Thessalonian. This text is likea spiritual manual, what we have to do to prepare ourhearts and souls for the Nativity of Christ. The human heart is the place where the Son of God will be born. It is the natural place for God to be born. 

 

St Paul writes: “Never try to suppress the Spirit or treat the gift of prophecy with contempt; think before you do anything – hold on to what is good and avoid every form of evil”.

 

This part indicates one very important thing. Our preparation is supported by God and His wisdom. Jesus Christ is sending His Spirit to guide us and give us some valuable advices. We are surrounded by His words, which are given us every day. The key thing is to listen to Him, and believe that He wants to help us. God says trough St. Paul: submit yourself to my Spirit and you will achieve more than you can get by yourself. To listen to the Holy Spirit means to beobedient to God. It is something different than blind listening to orders. It is the belief that God knowsbetter what is good for us. Saint Paul says: do notresist the Holy Spirit but cooperate with Him, in order to be able to make your spiritual life more fruitful. Afterwards, you may be able to celebrate Christmas time with piety and real happiness. 

 

I would like to pay your attention to another sentence of the letter. The Apostle says: “May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may you all be kept safe and blameless, spirit, soul and body, for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has called you and he will not fail you.

 

As I said before, Jesus Christ will be born again in our hearts. God calls us to prepare ourselves for God, who became a man. 

During this time we are preparing our house, puttingdecorations and doing shopping. But Jesus Christ reminds us to remember also about our hearts. He wants to be born in a pure heart. Cleanse your soul of everything that refuses God, especially sin, which is the biggest enemy of Jesus. 

All these days become the opportunity to immerseinto God’s holiness. He still gives us a great chanceand say: receive my mercy and love, trough the sacrament of confession, to renew your inner life, and get back to the real freedom. It worth to thinkabout it at any time, but especially if our confession was many year ago. 

 

God gives us His hand, He wants to help us. We are not alone, as St. Paul says, The Lord is ready to come with His aid.

Come Jesus Christ and sanctify my heart, because I want you to be born in my heart. Amen.

    Dziś obchodzimy trzecią niedzielę Adwentu, przedostatnią niedzielę Adwentu, zwaną tradycyjnie Niedzielą Gaudete, czyli Dniem Radości. Jaki jest powód tej radości? Matka Kościół ze swoją starą tradycją podkreśla prawdę, że Pan wkrótce przyjdzie, On jest za rogiem, a łacińskie słowo Gaudete wskazuje na radość Narodzenia Chrystusa. Tak, Pan jest blisko, ponieważ za kilka dni będziemy świętować tajemnicę Wcielenia Syna Bożego.

 

Podczas tej Mszy i Liturgii Słowa chciałbym skupić się na drugim czytaniu z Listu św. Pawła do Tesaloniczan. Ten tekst jest duchowym podręcznikiem, co należy zrobić wcześniej, aby przygotować serce i duszę na narodziny Chrystusa. Serce człowieka jest miejscem kluczowym, ponieważ tam, w nas, narodzi się Syn Boży. Oto naturalne miejsce narodzin Boga.

 

Św. Paweł pisze: „Bracia: Zawsze się radujcie, nieustannie się módlcie. W każdym położeniu dziękujcie, taka jest bowiem wola Boża w Jezusie Chrystusie względem was. ducha nie gaście, proroctwa nie lekceważcie”.

 

    Ten werset wskazuje na bardzo ważną rzecz, nasze przygotowanie jest wspierane przez Boga i Jego mądrość. Jezus Chrystus posyła swojego Ducha, aby nas prowadził i dawał bezcenne rady. Otacza nas Jego słowo, które jest dane na co dzień, najważniejsze jest, aby Go słuchać i wierzyć, że On chce nam pomóc, nie zniechęcić. Bóg mówi przez św. Pawła, poddajcie się mojemu Duchowi, a osiągniecie więcej niż sami możecie zyskać. Słuchanie Ducha Świętego oznacza bycie posłusznym Bogu. To coś innego niż ślepe wykonywanie rozkazów, ale to wiara, że ​​Bóg wie lepiej, co dla mnie jest bardziej pozytywne. Święty Paweł mówi, nie opierajcie się Duchowi Świętemu, ale współpracujcie z Nim, aby wasze codzienne życie duchowe było bardziej owocne, by móc świętować Boże Narodzenie z pobożnością i prawdziwym szczęściem.

 

Chciałbym jeszcze zwrócić uwagę na inne zdanie listu. Apostoł  Narodów mówią: „Unikajcie wszelkiego rodzaju zła. Sam zaś Bóg pokoju niech uświęca was całych, aby nietknięty duch wasz, dusza i ciało bez zarzutu zachowały się na przyjście Pana naszego, Jezusa Chrystusa. Wierny jest Ten, który was wzywa: on też tego dokona”.

 

 

    Jak powiedziałem wcześniej, Jezus Chrystus narodzi się ponownie w moim sercu. Bóg wzywa nas do podjęcia wielkiego wysiłku, aby przygotować życie wewnętrzne dla Boga, który stał się człowiekiem.

W tym czasie sprzątamy, przygotowując nasz dom, stawiając dekoracje i robiąc świąteczne zakupy.  Jezus Chrystus mówi, nie zapomnijcie uporządkować swojego serca, ponieważ tam będę. To jest moje pragnienie, aby urodzić się we właściwym miejscu, w czystym sercu. Oczyść swoją duszę ze wszystkiego, co odrzuca Boga, a zwłaszcza z grzechu, który jest największym wrogiem Jezusa.

Wszystkie te dni stają się okazją do zanurzenia się w świętości Boga, On wciąż daje wielką szansę, mówiąc: przyjmijcie moje miłosierdzie i miłość przez sakrament spowiedzi, aby odnowić swoje życie wewnętrzne, odzyskując prawdziwą wolność. Warto o tym pomyśleć w każdej chwili, ale zwłaszcza jeśli moja przeszła spowiedź miała miejsce wiele lat temu.

 

Bóg jest blisko, chce nam pomóc, aby każdy mógł obchodzić Boże Narodzenie z pobożnością i szczerym oddaniem. Nie jesteśmy sami, jak mówi św. Paweł, Pan jest gotów przyjść nam z pomocą.

Przyjdź Jezu Chryste i uświęć moje serce, ponieważ chcę, abyś urodził się w godnym miejscu mojego serca. Amen.
