The wisdom of rest... Mądrość odpoczynku...

 

Mark 6:30-34

They were like sheep without a shepherd

The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. Then he said to them, ‘You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many coming and going that the apostles had no time even to eat. So they went off in a boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves. But people saw them going, and many could guess where; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length.

    Reading the Gospel of Mark, we may notice the two things. Jesus indicates on the two fundamental values of human life, which indicate the purposes in our life, work and rest. 

 

The Apostles came back to Jesus, full of joy, happy of what has happened trough their work, and the Master said, go and rest a bit. 

 

Human life is the unity of body and soul, which cooperate, all the time. We cannot separate from them, because, if the body is suffering, the soul does, and the way around. God has created as one, however the first is visible, and the second one not. 

 

Listening the words of Christ, it may seem, it is a bit petty, but the subject of the harmony in the between work and resting is so relevant.  My duties and free time are corelated the same as the body and soul. It is a burning issue, while we live in the world, which says, you need to be better, more sufficient, to have and earn more because of many needs of you and your relatives.

 

On the other hand, the attitude of laziness does not help to moderate better my life, on the contrary.

 

God had created the world, we have read many times, the beauty poem from the Book of Genesis. The author of the First Book in the Old Testament points out, work and resting are the same needed. 

 

Because of that, we find the wisdom of the Church, every Sunday, the First Day of Week, and the Lord’s Resurrection is offered for him at Mass and for the family, to meet at the common table, to be together, to read the Bible or to make deeper knowledge of my faith. We need time for the daily life, but for the future of my existence as well. 

 

Let us ask the Lord, to be able work and rest wisely, for the benefit of the body and soul. This aim of the Gospel is on time, we have summertime. For many of us, this is a moment of break. So, I do not prolong the sermon, no to make it too long, but I wish you a blessed moment of holiday and break. Amen.

Apostołowie zebrali się u Jezusa i opowiedzieli Mu wszystko, co zdziałali i czego nauczali. A On rzekł do nich: "Pójdźcie wy sami osobno na pustkowie i wypocznijcie nieco". Tak wielu bowiem przychodziło i odchodziło, że nawet na posiłek nie mieli czasu. Odpłynęli więc łodzią na pustkowie, osobno. Lecz widziano ich odpływających. Wielu zauważyło to i zbiegli się tam pieszo ze wszystkich miast, a nawet ich wyprzedzili. Gdy Jezus wysiadł, ujrzał wielki tłum. Zlitował się nad nimi, byli bowiem jak owce nie mające pasterza. I zaczął ich nauczać o wielu sprawach.

    Czytając Ewangelię Marka, możemy zauważyć dwie rzeczy. Jezus wskazuje na dwie podstawowe wartości życia ludzkiego, które wskazują na cel naszego życia:  na pracę i odpoczynek.

 

Apostołowie wrócili do Jezusa pełni radości, zadowoleni z tego, co wydarzyło się w ich pracy, a Mistrz powiedział: Idźcie i odpocznijcie trochę.

 

Życie człowieka to jedność ciała i duszy, które cały czas ze sobą współpracują. Nie możemy ich oddzielić, bo jeśli cierpi ciało, cierpi także dusza i odwrotnie. Bóg stworzył  nas jako jedno, jednakże pierwsze jest widzialne, a drugie nie.

 

Słuchanie słów Chrystusa może wydawać się trochę małostkowe, ale temat harmonii pomiędzy pracą a odpoczynkiem jest jakże istotny. Moje obowiązki i czas wolny są ze sobą powiązane tak samo, jak ciało i dusza. Jest to paląca kwestia, póki żyjemy w świecie, który mówi, że trzeba być lepszym, bardziej wystarczającym, aby mieć i zarabiać więcej ze względu na wiele potrzeb swoich i swoich bliskich.

 

Z drugiej strony, postawa lenistwa nie pomaga w lepszym moderowaniu mojego życia, wręcz przeciwnie.

 

Bóg stworzył świat, wielokrotnie czytaliśmy poemat o pięknie stworzenia z Księgi Rodzaju. Autor Pierwszej Księgi Starego Testamentu wskazuje, że praca i odpoczynek są tak samo potrzebne.

 

Dzięki temu odnajdujemy mądrość Kościoła, w każdą niedzielę, Pierwszy Dzień tygodnia, w Zmartwychwstanie Pańskie, ofiarowujemy ten czas na Mszę św. i dla rodziny, aby spotykali się przy wspólnym stole, aby być razem. To czas czytania Biblii lub pogłębiania naszej wiedzy na temat mojej wiary. Potrzebujemy czasu na codzienność, ale także duchowa egzystencja jest ważna.

 

Prośmy Pana, abyśmy mogli mądrze pracować i odpoczywać, dla dobra ciała i duszy. Przesłanie  Ewangelii jest na czasie, mamy czas wakacyjny. Dla wielu z nas jest to moment wytchnienia. Nie przedłużam więc kazania, żeby nie było za długie, ale życzę błogosławionej chwili wakacji i odpoczynku. Amen.
