The Light and the Redeemer... Światło i Odkupiciel.

 

John 3:14-21

God sent his Son so that through him the world might be saved

Jesus said to Nicodemus:

‘The Son of Man must be lifted up

as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,

so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son,

so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost

but may have eternal life.

For God sent his Son into the world

not to condemn the world,

but so that through him the world might be saved.

No one who believes in him will be condemned;

but whoever refuses to believe is condemned already,

because he has refused to believe in the name of God’s only Son.

On these grounds is sentence pronounced:

that though the light has come into the world

men have shown they prefer darkness to the light

because their deeds were evil.

And indeed, everybody who does wrong

hates the light and avoids it,

for fear his actions should be exposed;

but the man who lives by the truth comes out into the light,

so that it may be plainly seen that what he does is done in God.’

    The Fourth Sunday of Lent presents the meeting of Jesus with Nicodemus, with the Scribe of the Jewish Nation. Who was Nicodemus? One of the noble men of the Palestinian soil, the teacher of Israel, but according to the Gospel of John, he was a hidden disciple of Christ, who used to love to meet Jesus and talk to him at night, because of the Jewish Authority, not to been charged for being in favor to Jesus. 

 

During of one of the conversations with Nicodemus, Jesus said; the Son need to be uplifted on the Cross, to redeem men from sins, and he explained, the Christ is the Light, which enlightens the acts of people, and to this fact, the men had chosen the darkness, to their deeds were never uncovered in the light to see as it is. 

 

Jesus Christ is the Light and the Salvation for us, to break out from the snares of evil and wickedness. The whole Lent reflects on the atoning work of Jesus, who came to make us free of the original sins, and its consequences. He is the only Priest and Sacrifice to ramson us from the human poverty, especially from the spiritual ones. Nobody except him, he can relieve me of what makes me sad, stressed and uncertain for tomorrow.

 

Nobody has the power like him, because he is the Son of God, with the divinity and human nature, Jesus Christ offered himself freely, no one pressed him to go on a cross, but he said; I am going to suffer for my brothers and sisters, to give them the Redemption and the everlasting life with my Heaven. It was not a slavery offering, but the God’s sacrifice, who was unblemished and saint. The only holy God can take over our misery and spiritual condition and uplift it into heaven. 

 

But Jesus says to us about the light, which is himself. It the context of his speech, we may find a bitterness of him, because the Lord indites the way of many people, who choose the darkness.  Their acts and deeds lead them into evil, they hate light, which unmasks their wickedness. 

 

Light is always the path which unmask evils and orients us onto conversion and take part in goodness. The Light of God encourages us to change my life and follow the way to make  me free of any illusion and the choice of the compromise with evil.  We are encouraged to be with God in the purity of heart and mind, having good and chaste will of life. 

 

The author of the Letter to the Hebrew writes; “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us”. Hbr 12,1. 

 

This lenten time wecomes us to rejects everything, what seperates us from God, to make decision, I want to follow Jesus truly with the wiligness of making my life in light, which is the Son of God. 

 

Jesus Christ, make me free from the mask of goodness, and put me in your light. Amen. 

 

 

 

 

(J 3,14-21) 

Jezus powiedział do Nikodema: „Jak Mojżesz wywyższył węża na pustyni, tak potrzeba, by wywyższono Syna Człowieczego, aby każdy, kto w Niego wierzy, miał życie wieczne. Tak bowiem Bóg umiłował świat, że Syna swego Jednorodzonego dał, aby każdy, kto w Niego wierzy, nie zginął, ale miał życie wieczne. Albowiem Bóg nie posłał swego Syna na świat po to, aby świat potępił, ale po to, by świat został przez Niego zbawiony. Kto wierzy w Niego, nie podlega potępieniu; a kto nie wierzy, już został potępiony, bo nie uwierzył w imię Jednorodzonego Syna Bożego. A sąd polega na tym, że światło przyszło na świat, lecz ludzie bardziej umiłowali ciemność aniżeli światło: bo złe były ich uczynki. Każdy bowiem, kto się dopuszcza nieprawości, nienawidzi światła i nie zbliża się do światła, aby nie potępiono jego uczynków. Kto spełnia wymagania prawdy, zbliża się do światła, aby się okazało, że jego uczynki są dokonane w Bogu”.

    IV Niedziela Wielkiego Postu przedstawia spotkanie Jezusa z Nikodemem, z uczonym Narodu Żydowskiego. Kim był Nikodem? Jeden ze szlachetnych ludzi ziemi palestyńskiej, nauczyciel Izraela, według Ewangelii Jana był ukrytym uczniem Chrystusa, który lubił spotykać Jezusa i rozmawiać z nim nocami, ze względu na władzę żydowską , aby nie być oskarżonym o sprzyjanie Jezusowi.

 

Podczas jednej z rozmów z Nikodemem Jezus powiedział: Syn potrzebuje wywyższenia na krzyżu, aby odkupić ludzi od grzechów i wyjaśnia, że Chrystus jest Światłością, która oświeca czyny ludzi i dlatego ludzie wybrali ciemność, aby ich uczynki nigdy nie były odsłonięty w świetle, by zobaczyć takim, jakim jest.

 

Jezus Chrystus jest dla nas Światłem i Zbawieniem, abyśmy mogli wyrwać się z sideł zła i niegodziwości. Cały Wielki Post jest refleksją nad odkupieńczym dziełem Jezusa, który przyszedł, aby nas uwolnić od grzechu pierworodnego i jego konsekwencji. On jest jedynym Kapłanem i Ofiarą, który nas wyrywa z ludzkiego ubóstwa, zwłaszcza duchowego. Nikt poza nim nie jest w stanie uwolnić mnie od tego, co sprawia, że ​​jestem smutny, zestresowany i niepewny jutra.

 

Nikt nie ma takiej mocy jak On, bo jest On Synem Bożym, mającym boskość i ludzką naturę. Jezus Chrystus ofiarował się dobrowolnie, nikt go nie naciskał, aby poszedł na krzyż, On powiedział; będę cierpieć za moich braci i siostry, aby dać im odkupienie i życie wieczne w Moim Królestwie. Nie była to ofiara niewolnicza, ale ofiara Boga, który był nieskazitelny i święty. Jedyny święty Bóg może przejąć naszą nędzę i stan duchowy i wywyższyć ku niebu.

 

Jezus mówi także nam o świetle, którym jest On sam. W tej wypowiedzi możemy doszukać się goryczy, gdyż Pan wkazuje postępowaniem wielu ludzi, którzy wybierają ciemność, konsekwencję swoich czynów i uczynków, które powinny być potępione.

 

Światło jest zawsze tym, co demaskuje zło i prowadzi nas do nawrócenia i udziału w dobru. Światło Boże zachęca nas do zmiany życia i podążania drogą wolną od złudzeń i wyboru kompromisu ze złem, podążania za Bogiem w czystości serca i umysłu, mając dobrą i czystą wolę życia.

 

Autor Listu do Hebrajczyków pisze; „ I my zatem mając dokoła siebie takie mnóstwo świadków, odłożywszy wszelki ciężar, [a przede wszystkim] grzech, który nas łatwo zwodzi”. Hbr 12,1.

 

W tym wielkopostnym czasie przychodzimy odrzucić wszystko, co oddziela nas od Boga, podejmując decyzję, chcę naprawdę naśladować Jezusa w mądrości, czyniąc swoje życie w świetle, którym jest Syn Boży.

 

Jezu Chryste, uwolnij mnie od pozoru dobroci i wprowadź mnie w swoje światło. Amen.
