The battle for truth.... Walka o prawdę...

 

Matthew 18:15-20

If your brother listens to you, you have won back your brother

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: the evidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain any charge. But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to the community, treat him like a pagan or a tax collector.

  ‘I tell you solemnly, whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.

  ‘I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them.’

So often we can notice, the teaching of the Lord is quite demanding. One of them is from the Gospel, which we read today. Jesus Christ teaches us about the responsibility for others, event to the point of the admonish of our brothers and sisters, to make them aware about the improper way, they have chosen. 

 

This work is requiring the attitude to be brave, even for the price of being hatred and persecuted by other person, who may belong to my friends, family, and fellows. 

 

But the instruction of Jesus is so needed, to save the person from the consequences, which may take place, its influencing for the daily and eternal life. Our reaction and care have the power to save a lot of souls and protect them before the evil and eternal condemnation. Human determination can take out of many from the way, which leads to suffering and sorrows in future, although they seem to be nice for now. 

This is the permanent battle for truth in the individual and common life, which is so often offered on the “altar of conformism”. The admonition is not simple, nice, while people are so demanding and liked to be offended. But this is still the effort for the human soul. 

The Gospel for today needs our determination to fight for the truth in the public space, because every decision and attitude has own consequences for the society. We are like a chain of people, who create the community in the spectrum of a big or small group. 

God admonishes for the truth and his commandments in our society, he asks for justice in the past and nowadays. Jesus Christ says, only the truth makes you free. 

This Sunday in the south-eastern Poland is celebrating the Beatification of a family, which gave a shelter for the Jewish family during the Second War World. The only in Poland people were killed for help to Jewish people by the German soldiers. The Ulm Family, Victoria and Joseph did not have any doubts, to give rescue to his Jewish neighbors. Victoria, Joseph and their seven children, one of them the unborn child were killed on the 24 March 1944. The Jews, they had got the shelter from the Ulm Family, were murdered before. 

Today, God announces the truth of the Christian charity, and admonishes for his servants. It’s a beautiful example of the human sensitivity and Christian love to those, who are our neighbor. The event of the beatification shows the first case of an unborn child, who is beatified, and it was in the mother’s womb. God shows for the whole world the truth of those, who had in heart of the Jesus’ words; “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. (J 15, 13-14).  

Let us work on it, to be able to admonish for truth in the personal and public life and for the courage to do this. Amen.

(Mt 18, 15-20) 
Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: "Gdy brat twój zgrzeszy przeciw tobie, idź i upomnij go w cztery oczy. Jeśli cię usłucha, pozyskasz swego brata. Jeśli zaś nie usłucha, weź z sobą jeszcze jednego albo dwóch, żeby na słowie dwóch albo trzech świadków oparła się cała sprawa. Jeśli i tych nie usłucha, donieś Kościołowi. A jeśli nawet Kościoła nie usłucha, niech ci będzie jak poganin i celnik. Zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Wszystko, cokolwiek zwiążecie na ziemi, będzie związane w niebie, a co rozwiążecie na ziemi, będzie rozwiązane w niebie. Dalej, zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Jeśli dwóch z was na ziemi zgodnie o coś prosić będzie, to wszystko otrzymają od mojego Ojca, który jest w niebie. Bo gdzie są dwaj albo trzej zebrani w imię moje, tam jestem pośród nich".

XXIII Niedziela Zwykła. Rok A. Mt 18, 15-20. 2023

Często możemy zauważyć, że nauczanie Pana jest dość wymagające. Jedno z nich pochodzi z Ewangelii, którą dzisiaj czytamy. Jezus Chrystus uczy nas odpowiedzialności za innych, aż do napomnienia naszych braci i sióstr, aby uświadomić im niewłaściwą drogę, którą wybrali.

 

Ta praca wymaga odważnej postawy, nawet za cenę bycia znienawidzonym i prześladowanym przez inną osobę, która może należeć do moich przyjaciół, rodziny i znajomych.

 

Pouczenie Jezusa jest konieczne, aby uchronić osoby przed konsekwencjami, które mogą ponieść, wpływające na ich życie codzienne i wieczne. Nasza reakcja i troska mają moc ocalenia wielu dusz i uchronienia ich przed złem i wiecznym potępieniem. Ludzka determinacja może wielu sprowadzić z drogi, która prowadzi do cierpień i smutków w przyszłości, choć teraz wydają się one miłe.

Jest to ciągła walka o prawdę w życiu indywidualnym i wspólnym, która tak często jest ofiarowana na „ołtarzu konformizmu”. Napomnienie nie jest proste, miłe, a ludzie są wymagający i lubią się obrażać, ale to wciąż jest wysiłek zbawienia dla ludzkiej duszy.

Ewangelia potrzebuje naszej determinacji w walce o prawdę w przestrzeni publicznej, bo każda decyzja i postawa ma swoje konsekwencje dla społeczeństwa. Jesteśmy jak łańcuch ludzi, którzy tworzą wspólnotę w spektrum dużej lub małej grupy.

Bóg upomina się w naszym społeczeństwie o prawdę i swoje przykazania, prosi o sprawiedliwość dawniej i dziś. Jezus Chrystus mówi, że tylko prawda czyni nas wolnymi.

W najbliższą niedzielę w południowo-wschodniej Polsce przypada beatyfikacja rodziny, która podczas II wojny światowej udzieliła schronienia rodzinie żydowskiej. Jedynie w Polsce ludzie byli mordowani za pomoc Żydom przez żołnierzy niemieckich. Rodzina Ulmów, Wiktoria i Józef nie mieli wątpliwości, czy udzielić ratunku swoim żydowskim sąsiadom. Wiktoria, Józef i ich siedmioro dzieci, w tym jedno nienarodzone, zginęli 24 marca 1944 r. Żydzi, którzy otrzymali schronienie od rodziny Ulmów, zostali zamordowani już wcześniej.

Dziś Bóg głosi prawdę o chrześcijańskiej miłości i napomina swoje sługi. To piękny przykład ludzkiej wrażliwości i chrześcijańskiej miłości do tych, którzy są naszymi bliźnimi. Wydarzenie beatyfikacyjne pokazuje pierwszy przypadek nienarodzonego dziecka, które zostaje beatyfikowane w łonie matki. Bóg ukazuje całemu światu prawdę tych, którzy mieli w sercu słowa Jezusa; „Nikt nie ma większej miłości od tej, gdy ktoś życie swoje oddaje za przyjaciół swoich. Wy jesteście przyjaciółmi moimi, jeżeli czynicie to, co wam przykazuję.  (J 15, 13-14).

 

Pracujmy nad tym, abyśmy potrafili upominać się o prawdę w życiu osobistym i publicznym oraz o odwagę, by to czynić. Amen.
