Luke 18:1-8

The parable of the unjust judge

Jesus told his disciples a parable about the need to pray continually and never lose heart. ‘There was a judge in a certain town’ he said ‘who had neither fear of God nor respect for man. In the same town there was a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, “I want justice from you against my enemy!” For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, “Maybe I have neither fear of God nor respect for man, but since she keeps pestering me I must give this widow her just rights, or she will persist in coming and worry me to death.”’

  And the Lord said ‘You notice what the unjust judge has to say? Now will not God see justice done to his chosen who cry to him day and night even when he delays to help them? I promise you, he will see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find any faith on earth?’

   On the Lord’s Day, God has prepared the readings which based on the power of prayer. The First Reading from the Exodus, Moses prayed for the succeed of the war between Israel and Amalekites. 

 

And the Gospel of Luke presents a story about a woman, who kept on asking the judge for defense from her enemy. At the beginning the judge did not want to help, but under the pressure of her persistence, he said, I would help you. 

 

 

The two situations of the readings indicate the power of faith. 

 

We pray for patience for ourselves and to other people, but it is so relevant to pray for consistency to God and the relationship with him. God does exist in a different sense of time and rhythm than we do. He is a good teacher and pedagogist. He wants to form my heart and mind steadfast and full of determination, which would help us on daily life. 

 

God may make us fighters, to be great people of Christianity and values itself. But on this way, we need time and gift of persistence. 

 

Today, it is no easy, because the modern world becomes more faster, everything should be done for yesterday, so often we cannot wait 5 minutes, because it seems to us so long. 

 

The technology and everyday life put us on pressure, we need to be more efficient, productive, and quicker. But all these things do not make us more steadily to ask and work on our life and faith. 

 

 

Moses and the woman from the Gospel become a guilty of conscience for us, for those, who cannot wait, and on the other hand, they welcome us to fight for faith and determination. Amen.

Jezus opowiedział swoim uczniom przypowieść o tym, że zawsze powinni się modlić i nie ustawać: "W pewnym mieście żył sędzia, który Boga się nie bał i nie liczył się z ludźmi. W tym samym mieście żyła wdowa, która przychodziła do niego z prośbą: „Obroń mnie przed moim przeciwnikiem”. Przez pewien czas nie chciał; lecz potem rzekł do siebie: „Chociaż Boga się nie boję ani się z ludźmi nie liczę, to jednak ponieważ naprzykrza mi się ta wdowa, wezmę ją w obronę, żeby nie przychodziła bez końca i nie zadręczała mnie”. I Pan dodał: "Słuchajcie, co ten niesprawiedliwy sędzia mówi. A Bóg, czyż nie weźmie w obronę swoich wybranych, którzy dniem i nocą wołają do Niego, i czy będzie zwlekał w ich sprawie? Powiadam wam, że prędko weźmie ich w obronę. Czy jednak Syn Człowieczy znajdzie wiarę na ziemi, gdy przyjdzie?".

    W dniu Pańskim Bóg przygotował czytania oparte na mocy modlitwy. W pierwszym czytani z Księgi wyjścia Mojżesz modlił się o powodzenie wojny między Izraelem a Analektami.

 

A Ewangelia Łukasza przedstawia historię o kobiecie, która prosiła sędziego o obronę przed wrogiem. Sędzia na początku nie chciała pomóc, ale pod presją jej wytrwałości powiedział, pomogę.

 

 

Dwie sytuacje czytań wskazują na niezłomność i hart wiary.

 

Modlimy się o cierpliwość dla siebie i innych ludzi, ale bardzo ważne jest, aby modlić się o konsekwencję do Boga i relacji z Nim. Bóg istnieje w innym poczuciu czasu i rytmu niż my. Jest dobrym nauczycielem i pedagogiem. Chce ukształtować moje serce i umysł niezłomnym i pełnym determinacji, co pomogłoby nam w codziennym życiu.

 

Bóg może uczynić nas wojownikami, abyśmy byli wielkimi ludźmi chrześcijaństwa i jego wartości. Ale na tej drodze potrzebujemy czasu i daru wytrwałości.

 

Dziś nie jest to łatwe, bo współczesny świat staje się coraz szybszy, wszystko powinno być zrobione na wczoraj, więc często nie możemy czekać 5 minut, bo wydaje nam się, że tak długo.

 

Technologia i codzienne życie wywierają na nas presję, musimy być bardziej wydajni, wydajni i szybsi. Wszystkie te rzeczy nie sprawiają, że łatwiej i bardziej wytrwalej prosimy Boga i pracujemy nad naszym życiem i wiarą.

 

 

Mojżesz i kobieta z Ewangelii stają się wyrzutem sumienia dla nas, tych, którzy nie mogą czekać, a z drugiej strony są oni mobilizacją do walki o wiarę i determinację. Amen.
