John 6:60-69 |

Who shall we go to? You are the Holy One of God
While we are reading the today’s Gospel of John, which belongs to the great Eucharistic Speech of Jesus, we may notice some incident when a lot of disciples left Christ. Apparently, they had no deep faith to understand His teaching and mission. The disappointment won over the expectations and imagination of those people who thought that Christ is a powerful leader who will rescue them from the Roman Empire.
The answer of Jesus was very clear: faith and commitment to the Lord are God’s will and gift. Only people who believe and trust me can be my disciples.
Afterwards Christ asked a question to those who stayed with Him – maybe you want to leave me?
The response of Peter was: No Lord, who shall we go to? You have the words of life. The answer of Peter showed that Christ is the life, hope and sense of being.
The first Apostles understood that only Christ can give the real sense of life. They left everything – their houses, families, and properties to achieve much more. And they became the foundation of the Church.
Today, many people face with the same problem. They lose the real “taste of life” when they lose God from the horizon of their life. The “empire”, which has been built by them on the materialistic values is not enough. They are looking forward for a better life, but the result is the opposite. It’s the lack of something.
Some members of my family are quite wealthy, but there is plenty of anxiety and sorrow in them because no one came to visit them for a Christian Feast. They say that there is no sense to celebrate Christmas together, like a husband and wife, because they are alone. But what about Jesus Christ? He is the reason why we should celebrate.
In every one of us there is the desire of God, although sometimes it is hidden and the emptiness makes us so depressed, disappointed and sad.
Who shall go to? Asked Peter. But in this sentence is hidden the whole sense of our life: God, Jesus Christ, He makes the difference. Even happiness and suffering have the deeper meaning thanks to Him.
My Lord, who shall I go to? You are my King of Peace. Amen.
Rzekł więc Jezus do Dwunastu: "Czyż i wy chcecie odejść?" Odpowiedział Mu Szymon Piotr: "Panie, do kogo pójdziemy? Ty masz słowa życia wiecznego. A my uwierzyliśmy i poznaliśmy, że Ty jesteś Świętym Bożym".
