The Lord of Harvest... Pan Żniwa...

 

Mark 6:30-34

They were like sheep without a shepherd

The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. Then he said to them, ‘You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many coming and going that the apostles had no time even to eat. So they went off in a boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves. But people saw them going, and many could guess where; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length.

   Very often we hear that the Lord is merciful. This truth is confirmed in today's Gospel. The author, saint Mark, tells us the story when Jesus saw a large crowd. He felt pity because they had no shepherd and hoped that somebody will come and tell them: you are beloved people of God.

 

Jesus Christ gives us a very important message: you are the children of God, and I came to the world for you. 

 

But we have to understand the will of Christ. He sent his disciples to proclaim the Good News in His name.

 

We may also read in the Gospel: "The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to do his harvesting". Lk 10,2. 

 

What does Jesus want to say? In the Old Testament there was always a man who was a mediator between God and people. Jesus Christ Himself was the mediator between people and His Father. Later that duty was passed over to the Apostles. 

 

While we are reading today's Gospel, we can compare this story with our times. Christ knows that we are wounded, lost and have no hope, so He wants to help us.

 

Jesus wants to say, I have mercy on you, and I send people who bring hope and everlasting remedy. Those people are priests. 

 

They bring the message that nobody is alone in this world. There is always God next to us. 

 

The place of Christ’s ministry and salvation is the Church, as I said last Sunday. Jesus instituted his Body, to no one can feel alone and abandoned, would have been touched by God’s grace and peace. 

 

The Church is a helpful hand of Christ, not enemy. It is our ally, not challenger, because there is God, who is coming towards us, like in the today’s Gospel, when the Lord have pity on these people, who have been abounded and left itself. 

 

Indispensable place takes the ministry of bishops, priests and deacons. The key things of Jesus’ power are the sacraments, which were given to the chosen people by him. No one can take a place of priest bythe altar, saying the words of consecration, or take a sit in the confessional box, saying the words of absolution. Yes, of course, we are encouraged to be involved to the life of the Church, but some work is reserved to the consecrated persons, who of the power from above, bring Christ and his sacraments. 

 

This is a great opportunity to say, thank you all for your spiritual support, kindness and understandingevery single day to me and the priest working in Gibraltar. 

 

Jesus Christ, have pity on us and send your newlabours among your flock. Amen.

Apostołowie zebrali się u Jezusa i opowiedzieli Mu wszystko, co zdziałali i czego nauczali. A On rzekł do nich: "Pójdźcie wy sami osobno na pustkowie i wypocznijcie nieco". Tak wielu bowiem przychodziło i odchodziło, że nawet na posiłek nie mieli czasu. Odpłynęli więc łodzią na pustkowie, osobno. Lecz widziano ich odpływających. Wielu zauważyło to i zbiegli się tam pieszo ze wszystkich miast, a nawet ich wyprzedzili. Gdy Jezus wysiadł, ujrzał wielki tłum. Zlitował się nad nimi, byli bowiem jak owce nie mające pasterza. I zaczął ich nauczać o wielu sprawach.

   Bardzo często słyszymy, że Pan jest miłosierny. Ta prawda znajduje potwierdzenie w dzisiejszej Ewangelii. Autor, święty Marek, opowiada nam historię, kiedy Jezus zobaczył wielki tłum. Zlitował się, bo nie mieli pasterza i miał nadzieję, że ktoś przyjdzie i powie im: jesteście umiłowanym ludem Bożym.

Jezus Chrystus przekazuje nam bardzo ważne przesłanie: jesteście dziećmi Bożymi, a ja przyszedłem na świat dla Was.

Jednocześnie musimy zrozumieć wolę Chrystusa. Posłał swoich uczniów, aby w Jego imieniu głosili Dobrą Nowinę.

Możemy też przeczytać w Ewangelii: „Żniwo wpradzie wielkie, ale robotników mało, więc proście Pana żniwa, aby posłał robotników na swoje żniwo”. Łk 10,2.

Co Jezus chce powiedzieć? W Starym Testamencie pojawiał się człowiek, który był pośrednikiem między Bogiem a ludźmi. Sam Jezus Chrystus był i jest pośrednikiem między ludźmi a Swoim Ojcem. Później ten obowiązek został przekazany Apostołom.

Czytając dzisiejszą Ewangelię, możemy porównać tę historię z naszymi czasami. Chrystus wie, że jesteśmy zranieni, zagubieni i nie mamy nadziei, dlatego chce nam pomóc.

Jezus chce powiedzieć, posyłam ludzi, którzy niosą nadzieję i wieczne lekarstwo. Ci ludzie to księża, powołani do Mojej służby.

To oni przynoszą przesłanie, że nikt nie jest sam na tym świecie. Zawsze obok nas jest Bóg.

Miejscem posługi i zbawienia Chrystusa jest Kościół. Jezus ustanowił Swoje Ciało, aby nikt nie czuł się samotny i opuszczony, by móc zostać dotknięty łaską Bożą i pokojem.

Kościół jest pomocną ręką Chrystusa, a nie wrogiem. Jest naszym sprzymierzeńcem, a nie konkurentem, bo tam jest Bóg, który przychodzi do nas, jak w dzisiejszej Ewangelii, gdy Pan ulituje się nad tymi ludźmi, których zostali pozostawieni sobie samym. 

Niezbędne miejsce w Kościele zajmuje posługa biskupów, księży i ​​diakonów. Kluczem mocy Jezusa są sakramenty, które zostały przez Niego dane ludowi wybranemu. Nikt nie może zająć miejsca kapłana przy ołtarzu, wypowiadając słowa konsekracji, ani usiąść w konfesjonale, wypowiadając słowa rozgrzeszenia. Tak, oczywiście jesteśmy zachęcani do zaangażowania się w życie Kościoła, ale pewna praca jest zarezerwowana dla osób konsekrowanych, które mocą z góry przynoszą Chrystusa i Jego sakramenty.

To dobra okazja, aby podziękować wszystkim za wsparcie duchowe, życzliwość i zrozumienie każdego dnia dla mnie i księży pracującego na Gibraltarze.
