Mark 13:33-37 |

If he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep
By niespodzianie przyszedłszy, nie zastał was śpiących. Lecz co wam mówię, do wszystkich mówię: Czuwajcie!".
A new year of the liturgy has come, today we start the essential time of Advent, which prepares us for the coming of the Lord. The presence of Christ is in the two levels, the first one is about his final coming, and the second one, it’s the memorial of his birth, as the Mystery of the Incarnation, celebrating on Christmas Days.
The whole Advent turns our sight to him, who will come again to make a judgment upon this world, showing his glory and power. In every aspect of this time, we are living now, in the centrum is settled Jesus Christ and his Redemption. Advent is not a time of a beautiful atmosphere and waiting for the warmth of Christmas, only, but something more, this is the time of hard and effective spiritual work. Very often, we have tendency to celebrate Advent, and afterwards the Nativity of God’s Son, like a corny time, full of human empathy.
All these things are pretty important, but as it was said, in the centrum is Christ, not the feeling and atmosphere surrounding us. On Advent time, we are encouraged to rebuild my relationship to God. Trough the intercession of John the Baptist, we may hear the voice of God, saying: repent and prepare the ways for the Lord. I am invited to make my conversion and restoration of my heart, because Jesus will be born again, there, not in tradition and decoration.
If I want to treat Advent seriously, I must be ready for making effort, spiritually. It’s a time to stop and think about my existence, putting a question: whom am I living for, what is my purpose of life about, who is the most important for me?
This time is an excellent moment to back to God, to the first zeal of faith, which has been lost at the meanwhile.
Be converted, it means to acknowledge our weakness and sins before God and admit the truth; I need God’s grace and intervention to be able to be a better person. This is the opportunity to look at God’s eyes with humility; oh God you know me, renew and touch my spiritual wounds for healing.
Looking on God we cannot omit the sacrament of confession, while we stand in truth in the front of Jesus. I need his mercy to do my spiritual renewal, through his foreverness. It is a good time for that, especially, while my last confession was many years ago. And I cannot say, I have no sins, which should be classified for confession, seeking the same excuse: I have killed nobody. Is the only fifth commandment and killing as moral disorder? No, so stand firm in truth to experience God’s healing.
May this period be pretty prayerful, with generosity, charity and understanding, first at fall to those, who need it, the sick, elderly, lonely and vulnerable people. Advent, it is something more than atmosphere and decoration, which are so trivialized. This is the moment of coming of Christ. The key is about him. Without him, all these things do not make sense.
Come Jesus Christ. Amen.
