I was naked and you clothed me; sick, and you visited me
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men one from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.
‘Then the King will say to those on his right hand, “Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you made me welcome; naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me.” Then the virtuous will say to him in reply, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you; or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome; naked and clothe you; sick or in prison and go to see you?” And the King will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.”
‘Next he will say to those on his left hand, “Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food; I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink; I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, naked and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me.” Then it will be their turn to ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?” Then he will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me.”
‘And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the virtuous to eternal life.’
The last Sunday in Ordinary Time is traditionally called the Sunday of Christ the King. The whole liturgy and calendar shows the truth, that everything has its beginning and end in Jesus Christ. Today, the Mother of Church shows us the Kingdom of God which is eternal and endless. We believe that the Power of Christ and His reign are timeless. Certainly, we have some different imagination of what kingdom, authority and ruling are as we still have monarchies and royal families in Europe.
Despite the perspective of today, we are encouraged to look for the God’s Kingdom which is completely different from our human imagination. Jesus said that His Kingdom is not from this world. If His reign is different, how does his power look like?
We may find the answer in the today’s Gospel. Christ shows us some contradiction between lambs and goats what is a comparison to those who help others and those who neglect charity. The Parable and the whole Gospel indicate two things. The Kingdom of God is built on solid foundations of charity what means that we should be able to see past the end of one's nose. The life of Jesus was a testimony of such behaviour. Fir Him other people were more important than His glory and splendour. The greatest example of that was His Passion and Crucifixion.
Last Sunday, during the Angelus Prayer, Pope Francis emphasised the truth that the Christian attitude should be built on the foundation of rejection of every sin and weakness, but at the same time, we shall help others and be sensitive to our brothers and sisters, because the lack of sensitivity becomes some moral disorder.
The fruits of goodness are humility, sensitivity, simplicity, real love and freedom from selfishness. All these fruits are needed to make this world more human and to get back to normal life. By doing good we get closer to the Chris’s Kingdom.
In this time, which is so strange and full of confusion, we urgently need normality and stability. Through Jesus’ grace we are able to make this world better.

(Mt 25,31–46)
Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: „Gdy Syn Człowieczy przyjdzie w swej chwale i wszyscy aniołowie z Nim, wtedy zasiądzie na swoim tronie, pełnym chwały. I zgromadzą się przed Nim wszystkie narody, a On oddzieli jednych od drugich, jak pasterz oddziela owce od kozłów. Owce postawi po prawej, a kozły po swojej lewej stronie. Wtedy odezwie się Król do tych po prawej stronie: "Pójdźcie, błogosławieni Ojca mojego, weźmijcie w posiadanie królestwo, przygotowane wam od założenia świata. Bo byłem głodny, a daliście Mi jeść; byłem spragniony, a daliście Mi pić; byłem przybyszem, a przyjęliście Mnie; byłem nagi, a przyodzialiście Mnie; byłem chory, a odwiedziliście Mnie;byłem w więzieniu, a przyszliście do Mnie". Wówczas zapytają sprawiedliwi: "Panie, kiedy widzieliśmy Cię głodnym i nakarmiliśmy Ciebie? spragnionym i daliśmy Ci pić? Kiedy widzieliśmy Cię przybyszem i przyjęliśmy Cię? lub nagim i przyodzialiśmy Cię? Kiedy widzieliśmy Cię chorym lub w więzieniu i przyszliśmy do Ciebie?". Król im odpowie: "Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Wszystko, co uczyniliście jednemu z tych braci moich najmniejszych, Mnieście uczynili". Wtedy odezwie się i do tych po lewej stronie: "Idźcie precz ode mnie, przeklęci, w ogień wieczny, przygotowany diabłu i jego aniołom. Bo byłem głodny, a nie daliście Mi jeść; byłem spragniony, a nie daliście Mi pić; byłem przybyszem, a nie przyjęliście Mnie; byłem nagi, a nie przyodzialiście Mnie; byłem chory i w więzieniu, a nie odwiedziliście mnie". Wówczas zapytają i ci: "Panie, kiedy widzieliśmy Cię głodnym albo spragnionym, albo przybyszem, albo nagim, kiedy chorym albo w więzieniu, a nie usłużyliśmy Tobie?". Wtedy odpowie im: "Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Wszystko, czego nie uczyniliście jednemu z tych najmniejszych, tegoście i Mnie nie uczynili". I pójdą ci na mękę wieczną, sprawiedliwi zaś do życia wiecznego”.
Ostatnia niedziela Okresu Zwykłego jest tradycyjnie nazywana Niedzielą Chrystusa Króla. Cała liturgia i kalendarz logicznie pokazują prawdę, że wszystko ma swój początek i koniec w Jezusie Chrystusie. Dzisiaj Matka Kościoła stawia przed nami Królestwo Boże, które jest wieczne i nieskończone. Wierzymy, że Moc Chrystusa i Jego panowanie są ponadczasowe. Z pewnością mamy inną wyobrażenie dotyczącą królestwa, władzy i rządów. W Europie wciąż mamy Monarchię i Rodziny Królewskie, które cieszą się uznaniem ich podwładnych.
Mimo dzisiejszej perspektywy, jesteśmy zachęcani do spojrzenia na Królestwo Boże, które jest zupełnie inne niż ludzkie wyobrażenie. Sam Jezus powiedział: moje Królestwo nie jest z tego świata. Jeśli jego panowanie jest inne, jak wygląda jego władza?
Odpowiedź znajdujemy w dzisiejszej Ewangelii i w przypowieści o czasach ostatecznych. Chrystus stawia pewną sprzeczność między barankami i kozłami, które są odpowiednikem tych, którzy czynili dobro, i tych, którzy zaniedbali czynienie miłości. Przypowieść i cała dzisiejsza Ewangelia wskazują na dwie rzeczy: bycie dobrym lub na brak pozytywnych uczynków. Królestwo Boże jest zbudowane na solidnym fundamencie miłości, to znaczy, aby umieć dostrzec coś więcej niż „czubek własnego nosa”. Jezus Chrystus świadczył sobą, że życie drugiego człowieka jest ważniejsze niż jego chwała i blask. Największym jego przykładem jest Męka i Ukrzyżowanie.
W minioną niedzielę podczas modlitwy Anioł Pański Papież Franciszek podkreślił prawdę, że postawę chrześcijańską należy budować na fundamencie odrzucenia każdego grzechu i słabości, ale jednocześnie powinniśmy czynić miłosierdzie, będąc wrażliwi na moich braci i siostry, ponieważ brak wrażliwości staje się moralnym zaburzeniem.
Owocami dobroci są pokora, wrażliwość, prostota i prawdziwa miłość, uwolniona od egoizmu. Wszystkie te owoce są potrzebne, aby świat stał się bardziej ludzki i wrócił do normalności. Czyniąc to, tworzymy nasze serce zgodnie z Jego wolą, przybliżając Jego Królestwo teraz i tutaj.
W tym czasie, który jest tak trudny i pełen zamieszania, pilnie potrzebujemy normalności i Bożej stabilności. Dzięki łasce Jezusa i naśladowaniu Jego Królestwa możemy uczynić ten świat lepszym.
Jezu Chryste, przyjdź Królestwo Twoje. Amen.
