Luke 6:39-45

‘Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.’

At that time: Jesus told his disciples a parable: ‘Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, “Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye”, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

  ‘For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.’

    The Lord in the Gospel of Luke give us a special and challenging work. These words of Jesus we have on couple days before Lent, which we start this coming Wednesday. Through the 40 days I am welcome to focus on my life through the perspective of Jesus and his teaching, to notice of what does disturb me in my relationship with God. These forty days, it becomes especial grace and chance for my salvation and spiritual heath. 

 

The Lord in his teaching indicates the truly sensible sphere of my life, which so often is not humbled, and it prevails on me. Christ reflects on the attitude of malice of men, saying; how can you to say to your brother to take the splinter out from the eye, at the same time you have the pole in yours? Jesus condemns the behavior of hypocrisy. 

It is so simple, and it seems to us natural to pay attention to the life of my brothers and sisters, then to tackle with my own life. This situation has become more difficult, because we function in a world telling us, you are ok, I do not need any work to change my life, only I need to improve my skills in this world for the career. 

 

We experience the situation, which makes us aware, you are almost perfect, the spiritual level is in a good stage, do not be worried about that. This way of thinking convinces me that I am right to condemn others, to see the problems in them, not in me. That kind of reaction becomes so common from the psychological point of view, someone needs to be changed, not me, because we’d rather to go forward, blaming others, then to think about my condition of spirit. 

This style of thinking is quite comfortable and not developmental for the spiritual and human level. Avoiding the confrontation with my life, it builds the ignorance and pride, taking from us the fulness of life with all the consequences, those positive and negative. 

 

Jesus gives this difficult lesson for our good sake, to heal my humanity and spirituality, to able to live of fulness of life.  Let us come and undertake the challenge of focusing on own life. The opportunity to do that is approaching, this is about the Annual Lent we start soon. Amen.

Jezus opowiedział uczniom przypowieść: "Czy może niewidomy prowadzić niewidomego? Czy nie wpadną w dół obydwaj? Uczeń nie przewyższa nauczyciela. Lecz każdy, dopiero w pełni wykształcony, będzie jak jego nauczyciel. Czemu to widzisz drzazgę w oku swego brata, a nie dostrzegasz belki we własnym oku? Jak możesz mówić swemu bratu: „Bracie, pozwól, że usunę drzazgę, która jest w twoim oku”, podczas gdy sam belki w swoim oku nie widzisz? Obłudniku, usuń najpierw belkę ze swego oka, a wtedy przejrzysz, ażeby usunąć drzazgę z oka brata swego. Nie ma drzewa dobrego, które by wydawało zły owoc, ani też drzewa złego, które by dobry owoc wydawało. Po własnym owocu bowiem poznaje się każde drzewo; nie zrywa się fig z ciernia, ani z krzaka jeżyny nie zbiera się winogron. Dobry człowiek z dobrego skarbca swego serca wydobywa dobro, a zły człowiek ze złego skarbca wydobywa zło. Bo z obfitości serca mówią jego usta".

    

    Pan Jezus w Ewangelii Łukasza daje nam szczególną i trudną pracę do wykonania. Dzieje się to na kilka dni przed Wielkim Postem, który rozpoczynamy w najbliższą środę, podczas którego przez 40 dni mogę skupić się na swoim życiu z perspektywy Jezusa, aby zauważyć, co przeszkadza mi w mojej relacji z Bogiem. Te czterdzieści dni staje się szczególną łaską i szansą dla mojego zbawienie i duchowego zdrowia.

 

Chrystus w swoim nauczaniu dotyka bardzo wrażliwej sfery mojego życia, która tak często nie jest poskromiona, i bierze górę nade mną. Chrystus zarzuca ludziom postawę zakłamania, mówiąc: jak możesz mówić swemu bratu, aby wyjął drzazgę z oka, podczas gdy sam masz belkę w swoim oku? Jednoznacznie Jezus potępia zachowanie hipokryzji człowieka.

To takie proste i wydającej się naturalne, aby zwracać uwagę na życie moich braci i sióstr, a nie zajmować się swoim własnym życiem. Ta sytuacja stała się o wiele trudniejsza, ponieważ funkcjonujemy w świecie, który mówi nam, jesteś w porządku, nie potrzebuję żadnej pracy, aby zmienić swoje życie, potrzebuję jedynie poprawić swoje umiejętności w tym świecie dla własnej kariery.

 

Jesteśmy w sytuacji, która uświadamia nam, że jesteś prawie idealny, poziom duchowy jest w dobrym stadium, więc się nie martw się. Ten sposób myślenia przekonuje mnie, że mam rację, aby potępiać innych, widzieć problemy w nich, a nie we mnie. Taka reakcja staje się tak powszechna z psychologicznego punktu widzenia, idąc naprzód, obwiniając innych niż myśleć o swoim stanie ducha.

Ten styl myślenia jest dość wygodny i nierozwojowy na poziomie duchowym i ludzkim. Ucieczka od konfrontacji z moim życiem buduje utopię i pychę, odbierając nam pełnię życia ze wszystkimi konsekwencjami, tymi pozytywnymi i negatywnymi.

 

Jezus daje tą trudną lekcję dla naszego dobra, aby rozwijać moje człowieczeństwo, duchowość, aby móc żyć pełnią życia. Podejmijmy wyzwanie skupienia się na własnym życiu. Możliwość uczynienia jest w zasięgu ręki, w tym dorocznym Wielkim Poscie, który wkrótce rozpoczniemy. Amen.
