Mark 9:38-43,​45,​47-48

Do not stop anyone from working a miracle in my name

John said to Jesus, ‘Master, we saw a man who is not one of us casting out devils in your name; and because he was not one of us we tried to stop him.’ But Jesus said, ‘You must not stop him: no one who works a miracle in my name is likely to speak evil of me. Anyone who is not against us is for us.

  ‘If anyone gives you a cup of water to drink just because you belong to Christ, then I tell you solemnly, he will most certainly not lose his reward.

  ‘But anyone who is an obstacle to bring down one of these little ones who have faith, would be better thrown into the sea with a great millstone round his neck. And if your hand should cause you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life crippled, than to have two hands and go to hell, into the fire that cannot be put out. And if your foot should cause you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life lame, than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye should cause you to sin, tear it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell where their worm does not die nor their fire go out.’

    Reading the today’s God’s words, especially the first reading and the Gospel, we may notice the spiritual jealousy of some people about Moses and Jesus. The first situation is about the prophesy of the two men, who were called by God to proclaim his words, and the disciples of Moses said to him, stop them, because you are the chosen one, not them. 

The second situation was to happen, when the Apostles said to Jesus, we saw someone, who casts out the devils in your name. Forbid him because he is not with us, they said. The answer of Jesus is clear, whoever does the miracle in my name, he is not against us. The Apostles were jealous about their Master, having thought, we are the chosen ones by God, and the only power of God belongs to us. 

 

The liturgy of the word makes us aware before the trap, that everything is reserved for me, and my kind of the relationship and faith to God is the only one. 

 

 Let look at the Cross, and the hands of Christ, which were stretched on it, because he died for everyone. My brother and sister have the same right to get God and his grace. We are different, and our otherhood makes a richness in the Church of Jesus Christ. In one community, there are different charismas and ways to God. The teaching of the Lord and the Church is the same, but the ways and spirituality to get the real relationship to God, are many, as many we are. 

 

The jealousy puts the wall, which does not allow to rejoice of something, what is happening good in Church, and it does not come from me. So often I can think that only I am able to do goodness, no one else.  

 

The community of Jesus Christ is the unity, not loneliness, this is the variety of languages, cultures, and mentalities. We are different, professing the same Jesus Christ. My brother and sister build the same Church, however in different way, but this is our richness, which should not cause any jealousy but the power of the unity. Amen. 

 

Apostoł Jan rzekł do Jezusa: "Nauczycielu, widzieliśmy kogoś, kto nie chodzi z nami, jak w Twoje imię wyrzucał złe duchy, i zaczęliśmy mu zabraniać, bo nie chodzi z nami". Lecz Jezus odrzekł: "Przestańcie zabraniać mu, bo nikt, kto uczyni cud w imię moje, nie będzie mógł zaraz źle mówić o Mnie. Kto bowiem nie jest przeciwko nam, ten jest z nami. Kto wam poda kubek wody do picia, dlatego że należycie do Chrystusa, zaprawdę, powiadam wam, nie utraci swojej nagrody. A kto by się stał powodem grzechu dla jednego z tych małych, którzy wierzą, temu lepiej byłoby kamień młyński uwiązać u szyi i wrzucić go w morze. Jeśli zatem twoja ręka jest dla ciebie powodem grzechu, odetnij ją; lepiej jest dla ciebie ułomnym wejść do życia wiecznego, niż z dwiema rękami pójść do piekła w ogień nieugaszony. I jeśli twoja noga jest dla ciebie powodem grzechu, odetnij ją; lepiej jest dla ciebie chromym wejść do życia, niż z dwiema nogami być wrzuconym do piekła. Jeśli twoje oko jest dla ciebie powodem grzechu, wyłup je; lepiej jest dla ciebie jednookim wejść do królestwa Bożego, niż z dwojgiem oczu być wrzuconym do piekła, gdzie robak ich nie ginie i ogień nie gaśnie".

    Czytając dzisiejsze słowa Boga, zwłaszcza pierwsze czytanie i Ewangelię, możemy zauważyć duchową zazdrość niektórych ludzi o Mojżesza i Jezusa. Pierwsza sytuacja dotyczy proroctwa dwóch mężczyzn, którzy zostali powołani przez Boga, aby głosić Jego słowa, a uczniowie Mojżesza powiedzieli: powstrzymaj ich, ponieważ ty jesteś wybranym, a nie oni.

Druga sytuacja miała miejsce, gdy Apostołowie powiedzieli Jezusowi: widzieliśmy kogoś, kto w Twoim imieniu wypędza demony. Zabroń mu, ponieważ nie jest z nami. Odpowiedź Jezusa jest jasna: ktokolwiek czyni cuda w moim imieniu, nie jest przeciwko nam. Apostołowie byli zazdrośni o swojego Mistrza, myśląc, że są wybranymi przez Boga i jedyna moc Boża należy do nas.

 

Liturgia słowa uświadamia nam o pułapce, że wszystko jest zarezerwowane dla mnie, a mój rodzaj relacji i wiary do Boga jest jedyny.

 

Spójrzmy na Krzyż i ręce Chrystusa, która została na nim rozciągnięta, bo On umarł za wszystkich. Mój brat i siostra mają takie samo prawo do bliskości Boga i Jego łaski. Jesteśmy różni, a nasza inność stanowi bogactwo w Kościele Jezusa Chrystusa. W jednej wspólnocie istnieją różne charyzmaty i drogi do Boga. Nauka Pana i Kościoła jest taka sama, ale dróg i duchowości do uzyskania prawdziwej relacji z Bogiem jest wiele, tak jak wielu jest nas.

 

Zazdrość stawia mur, który nie pozwala cieszyć się z czegoś, co dzieje się dobrego w Kościele, a nie pochodzi ode mnie. Tak często mogę postawić mur, że tylko ja mogę czynić dobro, nikt inny.

 

Wspólnota Jezusa Chrystusa to jedność, a nie samotność, to różnorodność języków, kultur i mentalności. Jesteśmy różni, wyznając tego samego Jezusa Chrystusa. Mój brat i siostra budują ten sam Kościół, jednak w różny sposób, i to jest nasze bogactwo, które nie powinno powodować żadnej zazdrości, ale tworzyć siłę jedności. Amen.
