Going to a desert... Wyjście na pustynię...

 

Mark 1:12-15

Jesus was tempted by Satan, and the angels looked after him

The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts, and the angels looked after him.

  After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

    Last Wednesday we have started the annual Lent for 40 days of our preparation to the greatest celebration of the Christ’s Passion and Resurrection. The most important solemnity needs the proper way of the spiritual condition beforehand. This period puts a lot of effort before us, to be done, but it brings the joy of the expectation to the greatest victory of the God’s Son in the history. A lot depends on my own will and intention; how do I want to use this time. 

 

On the First Sunday of Lent, we go with Jesus to the desert. Today we read the Gospel of Mark, reporting on that moment. Saint Mark is a bit modest with the description of the whole situation. He says, Jesus went to a lonely place for 40 days, having been tempted by the enemy, the author does not give the attributes of temptation (bread, power, richness), as the other Evangelists do. 

 

Mark is a person, who distributes the message in the way of modesty. The Church following the disciple of Christ, wants to invite us to the simplicity of the experience of Lent. Why? These 40 days are not the cause to proof something to me or to others. This is not a time, to show, I can do a lot of things in this special moment, because I am more willing to the that, which is more difficult beyond this time. I feel much more motivation in my life. 

 

The simplicity of the Gospel and Jesus say, there is no time for competition, and for the spiritual proof either, but the Lord tells me, come with me with humble heart and proof to me, that you are willing to open your heart. Let turn the vector of the attention from me to God. I can change your life, not you, says the Lord. 

 

I do not need to play a hero before me and others, it’s needed one thing, to allow, that Christ would work in me. His grace has the power to change my heart and mind. I need proof to Jesus Christ, that I am ready to come with him to a desert of this Lent, and he is the person, who can change me in my freedom. 

 

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gain me for you on these days. Amen.

Duch wyprowadził Jezusa na pustynię. Czterdzieści dni przebył na pustyni, kuszony przez szatana. Żył tam wśród zwierząt, aniołowie zaś Mu usługiwali. Po uwięzieniu Jana przyszedł Jezus do Galilei i głosił Ewangelię Bożą. Mówił: „Czas się wypełnił i bliskie jest królestwo Boże. Nawracajcie się i wierzcie w Ewangelię”.

    W ubiegłą środę rozpoczęliśmy coroczny 40-dniowy Wielki Post przygotowujący do największej uroczystości Męki i Zmartwychwstania Chrystusa. Najważniejsza uroczystość wymaga wcześniejszego zadbania o kondycję duchową. Okres ten stawia przed nami wiele wysiłku do wykonania, ale przynosi radość oczekiwania na największe w dziejach zwycięstwo Syna Bożego. Wiele zależy od mojej woli i intencji; jak chcę wykorzystać ten czas.

 

W pierwszą niedzielę Wielkiego Postu idziemy z Jezusem na pustynię. Czytamy dzisiaj Ewangelię Marka, relacjonującą ten moment. Święty Marek jest nieco skromny w opisie całej sytuacji. Autor mówi, że Jezus udał się na miejsce samotne na okres 40 dni, będąc kuszony przez wroga, Marek nie podaje atrybutów pokusy (chleb, moc, bogactwo), jak to czynią inni Ewangeliści.

 

Święty Marek jest osobą, która przekazuje przesłanie w sposób skromny. Kościół podążając za uczniem Chrystusa, pragnie nas zaprosić do prostoty doświadczenia Wielkiego Postu. Dlaczego? Te 40 dni nie są powodem do udowadniania czegoś sobie ani innym. To nie jest czas na pokazywanie, że w tym szczególnym momencie mogę zrobić wiele rzeczy, ponieważ jestem bardziej zmotywowany w stosunku do tego, co jest trudniejsze do uczynnienia poza tym czasem. Czuję większą motywację w swoim życiu.

 

Prostota Ewangelii i Jezus mówią, że nie ma czasu na rywalizację, ani na duchowe udowadnianie czegokolwiek. Pan mi mówi, pójdź ze mną z pokornym sercem i udowodnij mi, że chcesz otworzyć swój umysł. Pozwól zmienić wektor uwagi z siebie na Boga. Ja mogę zmienić Twoje życie, a nie Ty – mówi Pan.

 

 Nie muszę grać bohatera przede mną i innymi, potrzebne jest jedno, pozwolić, aby Chrystus działał we mnie. Jego łaska ma moc przemienić moje serce i umysł. Potrzebuję powiedzieć Jezusowi Chrystusowi; jestem gotowy pójść z Nim na pustynię tego Wielkiego Postu, a On jest Osobą, która może mnie przemienić w mojej wolności.

 

Jezu Chryste, Synu Boży, zdobądź mnie w tych dniach dla siebie. Amen.
