Feast of the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Luke 2:22-40

My eyes have seen your salvation

When the day came for them to be purified as laid down by the Law of Moses, the parents of Jesus took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, – observing what stands written in the Law of the Lord: Every first-born male must be consecrated to the Lord – and also to offer in sacrifice, in accordance with what is said in the Law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

  Now in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was an upright and devout man; he looked forward to Israel’s comforting and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit he came to the Temple and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:

‘Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace,

just as you promised;

because my eyes have seen the salvation

which you have prepared for all the nations to see,

a light to enlighten the pagans

and the glory of your people Israel.’

As the child’s father and mother stood there wondering at the things that were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘You see this child: he is destined for the fall and for the rising of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is rejected – and a sword will pierce your own soul too – so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

  There was a prophetess also, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was well on in years. Her days of girlhood over, she had been married for seven years before becoming a widow. She was now eighty-four years old and never left the Temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayer. She came by just at that moment and began to praise God; and she spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem.

  When they had done everything the Law of the Lord required, they went back to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. Meanwhile the child grew to maturity, and he was filled with wisdom; and God’s favour was with him.

    This Sunday of the last day the 2023, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Every year, the Church wants to remind us, The Son of God was born in the family, in the natural place in the between of a woman and man. The whole concept of the human life from the very beginning has taken in the fundamental space of the society. 

 

The proper background for the child is about the parents, who gave a new life, which is not the point to the religion only, but to every honest understanding of the human relations, psychologically, as and the human bond. If we want to be honest, we need to undertake this common-sense, and accept it, which is not easy, because the common-sense of thinking is not approachable, in the name of the self-comfort. 

 

Reading the Gospel of Luke, we should notice, every person of the Holy Family used to have own task. Mary gave a birth to the Jesus, as a mother, Saint Joseph, as the guard of Christ, gave the safety and certainty to his family, and Jesus was to come to redeem the world. In this scripture is hidden the division of work, which is so essential to us, to the people of the XXI century, while the parents or adults want to take out the responsibility from their children or grandchildren. That attitude makes an entitling behaviour of us, for spoiling people. 

 

But the Gospel give us the spectrum of the common duties, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The went to a temple to atone the Moses’s Law. A first male of the family was to be sacrificed to fulfil the God’s will. They met Simeon and Anna, the people of the temple, who offered life to the Lord. The parents of Jesus wanted to join him, to what was required to him, as the Jew. For Mary and Joseph, the religion and belief were important. Thinking about it, we cannot omit the question, how is it today. Do the parents maintain the faith and Christian values of their children today? The question suggests itself, so often and in the majority, no. Very few do it, but this is the minority. 

 

Today we have seen quite a few cases, the parents do not baptise the children, neglecting their fundamental duty, saying, my child will choose faith, while it will be an adult person. It the name a false freedom, they lose the opportunity of being Christian parents, so often insisting, I am a believer. Again, this not about the freedom, but about the common sense and the responsibility before God. 

 

Let’s have a look, we have never chosen the nationality or language, it was done by the parents. It would be insane, no to learn the language, the child will choose the language for being over 18. 

 

This is something comparable to faith and Christian identity, again, the child should be brought up it the atmosphere of its parents. This is a proper way of thinking. On the other hand, it does not make sense. 

 

These problems we need to tackle with, on our days. Mary and Joseph did face with their problems, we do with ours. 

 

On this last day of the 2023, entering a New Year 2024, let us pray to defend our families before the false ways of thinking, to be able to protect our values, as the Children of God. Amen. 

 

Mary, The Mother of God Solemnity. 

Luke 2:16-21

The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found the baby lying in the manger

The shepherds hurried away to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; it was exactly as they had been told.

  When the eighth day came and the child was to be circumcised, they gave him the name Jesus, the name the angel had given him before his conception.

    A New Year has been started, the 2024 with new hopes and plans of us. As Christians, we want to start this time with God, because we believe, everything belongs to the Lord, as the Holy Scriptures accents, even time and space is his. 

 

The first day of a new period we look at the Bethlehem and the manger, when Jesus was born. The shepherds came over to see Baby Jesus with Mary and Joseph, to experience the joy of the Angel’s message. Today with eyes of faith we have come to church to see our Redeemer and his parents. There was Jesus, but the people on that night gazed their signs into Mary and Joseph as well. On the first day of every New Year, we would like to meet Mary, The Mother of Jesus, as the Mother of God. The Church wants turns our attention to Mary, on her Motherhood. The beauty of her is about to be a mother, who gave a birth to the Son, as the person inseparably connected to the vocation of being a mother, as the closest woman of a child. Mary like every woman was the most near to Christ, carrying him in the womb for nine months. 

 

She shows us, her greatness is about to be a mother to a child, nothing else above, not privileges and special treatment, but her daily presence with Jesus and Joseph. 

 

The beauty of the human life is, to have the parents in our life, especially the mother, who is close to her child, with all the consequences, with joy and sorrows. She is the example for woman and mothers, you are the most beautiful face of God’s love, and your dignity is in you, in the motherhood. 

 

This image and vocation of woman we need to remind so often, for now we have great crisis of being the mother. In our beloved Europe the average natural increase is low, a little bit over 1 child per family, and some countries the rate is below 1 child per family. This is a big sociological and economical problem for us, to the European, because very soon, we will have few people working for our pension in future. But the economic problem from the religious point of view, it is not the most important, but it concerns of our dignity and existence as the community. 

 

Why does it happen, of course I am not empowered to judge, every situation is different, today we have a plague of not being able to have children. But I think one of the things is a false understanding of freedom, of being emancipated person, who thinks I am not a person for bearing child, but the woman of carrier and self-realization. Maybe the time of being a mother will come later. 

 

This way of thinking has become common, the most in Europe and in so called the Western World. But this attitude makes a suffering for the whole society, this is not the case of the individuality only. 

 

God wants to say, woman, mother, you are the most beautiful image of my presence to others, you have placed the distinguish space in human life, like Mary did, as the Mother of God. You are so beautiful in your motherhood. 

 

 

Today Mary appeals for one thing yet, for peace. The Church has established the first day of the New Year as the day of prayer for peace. This appeal is so actual, many places around the world is crying for peace, martyred by war in Ukraine, in  the Holy Land, Somalia, Venezuela (civil war), Syria, Lebanon, and more and more countries, people need to live in peace with hope. Mary is the Woman of Peace, let’s pray through her intersession for the gift of peace and the relief in pain and fear. 

 

 

With Mary at the end, I would like to say to my mum and all mums, thank you for your motherhood, for being a mother to us. I appreciated to this, for your care to us. Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. 

 

A blessed New Year A.D. 2024

 

 

Uroczystość Świętej Rodziny, Jezusa, Maryi i Józefa.

(Łk 2, 22-40) 
Gdy upłynęły dni ich oczyszczenia według Prawa Mojżeszowego, Rodzice przynieśli Jezusa do Jerozolimy, aby przedstawić Go Panu. Tak bowiem jest napisane w Prawie Pańskim: "Każde pierworodne dziecko płci męskiej będzie poświęcone Panu". Mieli również złożyć w ofierze parę synogarlic albo dwa młode gołębie, zgodnie z przepisem Prawa Pańskiego. A żył w Jeruzalem człowiek imieniem Symeon. Był to człowiek sprawiedliwy i pobożny, wyczekujący pociechy Izraela; a Duch Święty spoczywał na nim. Jemu Duch Święty objawił, że nie ujrzy śmierci, aż zobaczy Mesjasza Pańskiego. z natchnienia więc Ducha przyszedł do świątyni. A gdy Rodzice wnosili dzieciątko Jezus, aby postąpić z Nim według zwyczaju Prawa, on wziął Je w objęcia, błogosławił Boga i mówił: "Teraz, o Władco, pozwalasz odejść słudze Twemu w pokoju, według Twojego słowa. Bo moje oczy ujrzały Twoje zbawienie, które przygotowałeś wobec wszystkich narodów: światło na oświecenie pogan i chwałę ludu Twego, Izraela". A Jego ojciec i Matka dziwili się temu, co o Nim mówiono. Symeon zaś błogosławił ich i rzekł do Maryi, Matki Jego: «Oto Ten przeznaczony jest na upadek i na powstanie wielu w Izraelu, i na znak, któremu sprzeciwiać się będą – a Twoją duszę miecz przeniknie – aby na jaw wyszły zamysły serc wielu». Była tam również prorokini Anna, córka Fanuela z pokolenia Asera, bardzo podeszła w latach. Od swego panieństwa siedem lat żyła z mężem i pozostała wdową. Liczyła już sobie osiemdziesiąt cztery lata. Nie rozstawała się ze świątynią, służąc Bogu w postach i modlitwach dniem i nocą. Przyszedłszy w tej właśnie chwili, sławiła Boga i mówiła o Nim wszystkim, którzy oczekiwali wyzwolenia Jeruzalem. A gdy wypełnili wszystko według Prawa Pańskiego, wrócili do Galilei, do swego miasta – Nazaretu. Dziecię zaś rosło i nabierało mocy, napełniając się mądrością, a łaska Boża spoczywała na Nim.

    W ostatnią niedzielę roku 2023 obchodzimy Święto Świętej Rodziny, Jezusa, Maryi i Józefa. Co roku Kościół pragnie nam przypominać, że Syn Boży narodził się w rodzinie, w naturalnym miejscu pomiędzy kobietą i mężczyzną. Cała koncepcja życia ludzkiego od samego początku przyjęła się w zasadniczej przestrzeni społeczeństwa.

 

Właściwym miejscem dla dziecka są rodzice, którzy dali mu nowe życie, i nie jest tylko kontekst religijny, ale każde uczciwe zrozumienie zagadnienia relacji międzyludzkich, psychologii i więzi międzyludzkiej. Jeśli chcemy być uczciwi i podchodzić do tego ze zdrowym rozsądkiem, musimy to zaakceptować, co nie jest łatwe, bo zdrowy rozsądek myślenia jest trudny do nieosiągnięcia, w imię własnego komfortu.

 

Czytając Ewangelię Łukasza, warto zauważyć, że każda osoba Świętej Rodziny miała swoje zadanie. Maryja urodziła Jezusa jako matka, św. Józef, jako strażnik Chrystusa, dał bezpieczeństwo i pewność swojej rodzinie, a Jezus miał przyjść, aby odkupić świat. W tym Piśmie Świętym kryje się podział pracy, który jest tak istotny dla nas, ludzi XXI wieku, podczas gdy rodzice lub dorośli chcą i robią to, zdejmując odpowiedzialność ze swoich dzieci lub wnuków. Taka postawa prowadzi nas do psucia ludzi.

 

Ale Ewangelia podaje nam jeszcze inne spektrum wspólnych obowiązków Jezusa, Maryi i Józefa. Udali się do świątyni, aby zadośćuczynić Prawu Mojżeszowemu. Pierwszy mężczyzna w rodzinie miał zobowiązać się do wypełnienia woli Bożej. Spotkali Symeona i Annę, mieszkańców świątyni, którzy oddali życie Panu. Rodzice Jezusa chcieli wdrożyć w jego życie to, czego od niego wymagano jako Żyda. Dla Maryi i Józefa najważniejsza była religia i wiara, potem ludzkie potrzeby. Myśląc o tym, nie możemy uciec od pytania, jak jest dzisiaj. Czy rodzice przekazują dziś dzieciom wiarę i wartości chrześcijańskie? Pytanie samo nasuwa się, często i w większości: nie. Bardzo niewielu to robi, ale to mniejszość.

 

Dzisiaj widzieliśmy sporo przypadków, gdy rodzice chrzczą dzieci, zaniedbując swój podstawowy obowiązek, mówiąc: moje dziecko wybierze wiarę, kiedy będzie osobą dorosłą. Jest fałszywa wolność, tracą oni możliwość bycia chrześcijańskimi rodzicami, często upierając się, że jestem wierzący. Powtarzam, nie chodzi tu o wolność, ale o zdrowy rozsądek i odpowiedzialność przed Bogiem.

 

Spójrzmy na to z innej strony, nigdy nie wybieraliśmy narodowości ani języka, robili to rodzice. Byłoby to szaleństwo, nie uczyć się języka ojczystego, do momentu wyboru języka po ukończeniu 18 lat.

 

Jest to coś porównywalnego z wiarą i tożsamością chrześcijańską, to znowu jest właściwy sposób myślenia, wychować dziecko w wierze, której samemu zostało się wychowanym. Z drugiej strony nie ma to sensu.

 

Tym problemom musimy stawić czoła, w naszych czasach. Maryja i Józef rzeczywiście musieli przezwyciężać swoje problemy, my borykamy się z naszymi.

 

W ten ostatni dzień roku 2023, wkraczając w Nowy Rok 2024, módlmy się i brońmy nasze rodziny przed fałszywym sposobem myślenia, abyśmy mogli chronić nasze wartości jako Dzieci Boże. Amen.

Maryja, Boża Rodzicielka. Rok B. 2, 16-21. 2024.(Łk 2,16-21) 

Pasterze pospiesznie udali się do Betlejem i znaleźli Maryję, Józefa i Niemowlę, leżące w żłobie. Gdy Je ujrzeli, opowiedzieli o tym, co im zostało objawione o tym Dziecięciu. A wszyscy, którzy to słyszeli, dziwili się temu, co im pasterze opowiadali. Lecz Maryja zachowywała wszystkie te sprawy i rozważała je w swoim sercu. A pasterze wrócili, wielbiąc i wysławiając Boga za wszystko, co słyszeli i widzieli, jak im to było powiedziane. Gdy nadszedł dzień ósmy i należało obrzezać Dziecię, nadano Mu imię Jezus, którym Je nazwał anioł, zanim się poczęło w łonie Matki.

 

    Rozpoczął się Nowy Rok 2024, z nowymi nadziejami i planami. Jako chrześcijanie chcemy rozpocząć ten czas z Bogiem, bo wierzymy, że wszystko należy do Pana, jak akcentuje Pismo Święte, nawet czas i przestrzeń są Jego.

 

Pierwszego dnia nowego okresu patrzymy na Betlejem, w którym narodził się Jezus. Pasterze podeszli, aby zobaczyć Dzieciątko Jezus z Maryją i Józefem, aby doświadczyć radości z orędzia Anioła. Dzisiaj z oczami wiary przyszliśmy do kościoła, aby zobaczyć naszego Odkupiciela i Jego rodziców. Z wyjątkiem Jezusa, ludzie tej nocy wpatrywali się w Maryję i Józefa. Pierwszego dnia każdego Nowego Roku pragniemy dostrzec Maryję, Matkę Jezusa jako Matkę Boga. Kościół pragnie zwrócić naszą uwagę na Maryję, na Jej Macierzyństwo. Jej piękno polega na tym, że jest Matką, która urodziła Syna, i osobą nierozerwalnie związaną z powołaniem do bycia matką, najbliższą kobietą dziecka. Maryja, jak każda kobieta, była najbliższa Chrystusowi, nosząc Go w łonie przez dziewięć miesiąc.

 

Jej wielkość polega na byciu matką dziecka, nie zależy Jej na przywilejach i specjalnym traktowaniu, ale na Jej codziennej obecności z Jezusem i Józefem.

 

Piękno ludzkiego życia polega na tym, że mamy w swoim życiu rodziców, zwłaszcza matkę, która jest blisko swojego dziecka, ze wszystkimi tego konsekwencjami, z radościami i smutkami. Maryja jest przykładem dla kobiet i matek, jesteście najpiękniejszym obliczem Bożej miłości, a wasza godność jest w macierzyństwie.

 

O tym obrazie i powołaniu kobiety trzeba tak często przypominać, bo mamy teraz wielki kryzys bycia matką. W naszej ukochanej Europie średni przyrost naturalny jest niski, nieco powyżej 1 dziecka na rodzinę, a w niektórych krajach wskaźnik ten wynosi poniżej 1 dziecka na rodzinę. Dla nas, dla Europejczyków, jest to duży problem socjologiczny i gospodarczy, ponieważ niewielu będzie pracować na nasze emerytury, opiekę zdrowotną w przyszłości. Jednak problem ekonomiczny z religijnego punktu widzenia nie jest najważniejszy, to dotyczy naszej godności i istnienia jako wspólnoty.

 

Dlaczego tak się dzieje, oczywiście nie mam prawa oceniać, każda sytuacja jest inna, dziś mamy plagę niemożności posiadania dzieci. Ale myślę, że jedną z rzeczy jest fałszywe rozumienie wolności, bycia wyemancypowaną kobietą, która uważa, że ​​nie jestem osobą, która ma rodzić dziecko, ale kobietą, która musi dbać o karierę i samorealizować się. Może czas bycia mamą nadejdzie później.

 

Ten sposób myślenia stał się powszechny, najbardziej w Europie i tzw. świecie zachodnim. Ale taka postawa przynosi cierpienie całemu społeczeństwu, nie dotyczy to tylko jednostki.

 

Bóg chce powiedzieć, kobieto, matko, jesteś dla innych najpiękniejszym obrazem mojej miłości, ty zajęłaś wyróżniającą przestrzeń w życiu człowieka, tak jak uczyniła to Maryja, jako Matka Boża. Jesteś taka piękna w swoim macierzyństwie.

 

 

Dziś Maryja apeluje jeszcze o jedno: o pokój. Kościół ustanowił pierwszy dzień Nowego Roku dniem modlitw o pokój. Ten apel jest tak aktualny, wiele miejsc na świecie woła o pokój, umęczeni ludzie wojną na Ukrainie, w Ziemi Świętej, w Somalii, Wenezueli (wojna domowa), Syrii, Libanie i coraz większej liczbie krajów, w których ludzie chcą żyć w pokój z nadzieją. Maryja jest Niewiastą Pokoju, módlmy się za Jej wstawiennictwem o dar pokoju i ulgę w bólu i strachu.

 

 

Z Maryją na koniec pragnę powiedzieć mojej mamie i wszystkim mamom: dziękuję za Wasze macierzyństwo, za bycie matką. Doceniam twoją troskę o nas. Maryjo, Matko Boża, módl się za nami.
