Faith in the Resurrection.... Wiara w Zmartwychwstanie...

 

Luke 20:27-38

He is God, not of the dead, but of the living

Some Sadducees – those who say that there is no resurrection – approached Jesus and they put this question to him, ‘Master, we have it from Moses in writing, that if a man’s married brother dies childless, the man must marry the widow to raise up children for his brother. Well then, there were seven brothers. The first, having married a wife, died childless. The second and then the third married the widow. And the same with all seven, they died leaving no children. Finally the woman herself died. Now, at the resurrection, to which of them will she be wife since she had been married to all seven?’

  Jesus replied, ‘The children of this world take wives and husbands, but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the dead do not marry because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of the resurrection they are sons of God. And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is God, not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all men are in fact alive.’

   Today, for the 32^nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, The Mother of Church gives us the chapter 20 from the Gospel of Luke. It tells the story when Jesus Christ met the group of the Sadducees, people who held a very important religious function. They were also the opponents of another group of people – the Pharisees, who had the same task – to teach Jews about the rules of God. 

 

What was the difference between Sadducees and Pharisees? The first group did not believe in resurrection and angels, and the other group believed in both of these things. 

 

The lack of faith in resurrection became the subject of a discussion between the Sadducees and Jesus. They asked a very wicked question: if a woman had 7 husbands and she died childless, which of those men would be her husband on the Resurrection day?  This question was very difficult and full of bad will. 

 

What did Jesus do? He did not answer that question outright, but he said that they were wrong, because God is the God of living, not dead. Christ focused on the topic of heaven and eternal life. He did not respond who should be a husband of that woman, but said that our God is the living God. Our life does not end, but it continues in a different place, in eternity.

 

This Gospel is the fundamental catechize for us, believers. Especially in this world, when modern man contradicts the truth about God’s Kingdom and His existence. Today we can hear: use your life as much as possible. Start living for today, now it is your time and afterwards there is nothing. And because they focus only on the quality of one’s life, they risk their salvation. 

 

Very often we are under pressure to live intensively. A lot of Christians say: I must try everything to find out how life really tastes. How many Christians do not believe in the Resurrection of Christ? They are enslaved by the modern world. It sounds ridiculously and unbelievably, but this is the truth. 

 

Christ has confirmed by his cross and resurrection that the life of faithful does not end but is undergoing a change. 

 

The morning of the Easter Sunday has changed the whole history of mankind. Jesus Christ is waiting for us in His Kingdom, He is the God of the living, so we can hope to get there too. 

 

From now on, we must work hard to achieve that eternal reward. We have to listen to God, to His teachings and share God’s love among other people. 

 

The Sadducees indicated one thing. When they were talking about the woman and her husbands, they marked unconsciously a very important fact that in heaven we live in the unity and community of people. We are called by God with our families, friends, relatives and all the people of the world. The Kingdom of God is not the place of loneliness, but of the unity with God. 

 

Let’s pray for this eternal reward and unity. Amen.

Podeszło do Jezusa kilku saduceuszów, którzy twierdzą, że nie ma zmartwychwstania, i zagadnęli Go w ten sposób: ”Nauczycielu, Mojżesz tak nam przepisał: "Jeśli umrze czyjś brat, który miał żonę, a był bezdzietny, niech jego brat weźmie wdowę i niech wzbudzi potomstwo swemu bratu". Otóż było siedmiu braci. Pierwszy wziął żonę i umarł bezdzietnie. Wziął ją drugi, a potem trzeci, i tak wszyscy pomarli, nie zostawiwszy dzieci. W końcu umarła ta kobieta. Przy zmartwychwstaniu więc którego z nich będzie żoną? Wszyscy siedmiu bowiem mieli ją za żonę”. Jezus im odpowiedział: ”Dzieci tego świata żenią się i za mąż wychodzą. Lecz ci, którzy uznani są za godnych udziału w świecie przyszłym i w powstaniu z martwych, ani się żenić nie będą, ani za mąż wychodzić. Już bowiem umrzeć nie mogą, gdyż są równi aniołom i są dziećmi Bożymi, będąc uczestnikami zmartwychwstania. A że umarli zmartwychwstają, to i Mojżesz zaznaczył tam, gdzie jest mowa o krzaku, gdy Pana nazywa "Bogiem Abrahama, Bogiem Izaaka i Bogiem Jakuba". Bóg nie jest Bogiem umarłych, lecz żywych; wszyscy bowiem dla Niego żyją”.

   Dziś na 32 Niedzielę Zwykłą Matka Kościoła przekazuje nam rozdział 20 Ewangelii św. Łukasza. Opowiada historię spotkania Jezusa Chrystusa z grupą saduceuszy, ludzi pełniących bardzo ważną funkcję religijną. Byli też przeciwnikami innej grupy ludzi – faryzeuszy, którzy mieli to samo zadanie, by uczyć Żydów praw Bożych.

 

Czym różnili się saduceusze od faryzeuszy? Pierwsza grupa nie wierzyła w zmartwychwstanie i aniołów, a druga grupa wierzyła w obie te rzeczy.

 

Brak wiary w zmartwychwstanie stał się przedmiotem dyskusji saduceuszy z Jezusem. Zadali bardzo nikczemne pytanie: kobieta miała 7 mężów i umarła bezdzietnie, który z tych mężczyzn byłby jej mężem w dniu Zmartwychwstania? To pytanie było bardzo trudne i pełne złej woli.

 

Co zrobił Jezus? Nie odpowiedział na to pytanie wprost, ale powiedział, że są w błędzie, ponieważ Bóg jest Bogiem życia, a nie śmierci. Chrystus skupił się na temacie nieba i życia wiecznego. Nie odpowiedział, kto powinien być mężem tej kobiety, ale powiedział, że nasz Bóg jest Bogiem żywym. Nasze życie się nie kończy, ale trwa w innym miejscu, w wieczności.

 

Ta Ewangelia jest dla nas, wierzących, podstawową katechezą. Szczególnie w tym świecie, kiedy współczesny człowiek zaprzecza prawdzie o Królestwie Bożym i Jego istnieniu. Dziś słyszymy: korzystaj z życia jak najwięcej. Zacznij żyć dzisiaj, teraz nadszedł twój czas, a potem nie ma nic. Przez jakość życia ryzykują utratę zbawienie w swoim życiu.

 

Bardzo często jesteśmy pod presją intensywnego życia. Wielu chrześcijan mówi: muszę spróbować wszystkiego, aby dowiedzieć się, jak naprawdę smakuje życie. Ilu chrześcijan nie wierzy w Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa, jest zniewolonych przez współczesny świat? Brzmi to śmiesznie i niewiarygodnie, ale taka jest prawda.

 

Chrystus potwierdził swoim krzyżem i Zmartwychwstaniem, że życie wiernych nie kończy się, ale się zmienia.

 

Poranek Niedzieli Wielkanocnej zmienił całą historię ludzkości. Jezus Chrystus czeka na nas w swoim Królestwie, jest Bogiem żywych, więc możemy też mieć nadzieję, że tam dotrzemy.

 

Już teraz musimy ciężko pracować, aby osiągnąć tę wieczną nagrodę. Musimy słuchać Boga, Jego nauczania i dzielić się Bożą miłością z innymi ludźmi.

 

Saduceusze wskazali na jedną rzecz. Kiedy rozmawiali o kobiecie i jej mężach, nieświadomie zaznaczyli bardzo ważny fakt, że niebo jest jednością i wspólnotą ludzi. Zostaliśmy powołani przez Boga wraz z naszymi rodzinami, przyjaciółmi, krewnymi i wszystkimi ludźmi świata. Królestwo Boże nie jest miejscem samotności, ale jednością z Bogiem.

 

Módlmy się o tę wieczną nagrodę i jedność. Amen.
