IV Sunday in Ordinary Time. 30th January 2022.

On the IV Sunday in Ordinary Time, while we are reading the Gospel of Luke, we stay with Jesus in the Galilean Country. Last Sunday, the same Gospel reported on the situation, when the prophecy of Isaiah was being read in the synagogue about the Messiah who will come sent by the Lord. Today, Christ says: these words are to be fulfilled, which means that He is the promised Messiah. 

 

What was the reaction for these words of Jesus? When Christ said the truth, in the minds of the listeners appeared the indignation and disbelief. How could He say something like that. Why does He think that He is the person that many people of Israel were waiting for? 

 

They thought it was ridiculous that He is the one to bring liberation and grace from God. 

 

The rejection of Jesus was combined with anger and violence. It was too much for them to think about it, it was extremely shocking.  

 

Christ, in his own country, was rejected. Jesus was forced to leave that place. 

 

And now, let’s get back to nowadays. How would Jesus be welcomed today, in this Christian world? 

 

This is a good question. Our country, Europe, the so called Western World were all built on the foundation of the Christian values, tradition and culture. 

 

As Europeans we owe to the Roman Empire the law and to Greeks our culture, philosophy and art. But Christianity brought us the dignity and moral values. Our continent has Christian roots.  

 

Jesus Christ is coming to his flock, but how is he welcomed today? It is still His land. Do the people understand that the whole universe belongs to Him?

 

I am afraid that the situation from the Gospel has been repeating for many years. The answer is always: what do you want from us Jesus, this place belongs to us. The rejection of God is so powerful nowadays. We say: God, we do not want you, you are not the owner of the world and human life. 

 

This is sad that a man has taken place of God saying He is not important. 

 

In this dark vision there is still hope that all people are not the same. Like in Athens, some people said to St. Paul: “we will listen to you another time.” Only few believed in God and followed the Apostle of Nations.

 

There are some people of good will who still say: you are our God, we need you. Those people are ready to go and proclaim the Good News. Christ gives us the words: go forth into this secularized world to preach. I am the Messiah, the Promised Son of God. 

 

We are the light among the darkness of disbelief to bring the flame of God’s presence and grace to those who are lost without any hope. Like the Saint Bishop of Geneva, Francis de Sales, who said: the preaching of the Gospel should be done with love. He gained thousands of people for the Catholic Church.  Jesus Christ relies on us; we are the ambassadors of Him. Amen. 

 

IV Niedziela Zwykła. 30 stycznia 2022.

   W IV Niedzielę Zwykłą, gdy czytamy Ewangelię Łukasza, pozostajemy z Jezusem w Nazarecie w Kraju Galilejskim. W ubiegłą niedzielę ta sama Ewangelia relacjonowała modlitwę w synagodze, w której czytano proroctwo Izajasza o Mesjaszu, posłanego przez Pana. Dziś Chrystus mówi: te słowa spełniają się, w tym czasie, kiedy je słuchasz, to znaczy, że ta przepowiednia dotyczy mnie, jestem obiecanym Mesjaszem, na którego czekasz.

 

Jaka była reakcja na te słowa Jezusa? Kiedy Chrystus przekazał tą prawdę, w umyśle słuchaczy pojawiło się oburzenie i niedowierzanie, jak ktoś mógłbyś coś takiego powiedzieć, kim jesteś, by myśleć, że jesteś osobą, na którą wielu ludzi w Izraelu czeka?

 

Pomyśleli, że to bluźnierstwo, człowiek upiera się, że jest osobą, która przyniesie od Boga wyzwolenie i czas łaski.

 

Odrzucenie Jezusa było połączone z gniewem i wolą krzywdy i przemocy. To było dla nich za dużo, żeby się o tym pomyśleć, a tym bardziej powiedzieć, że jestem Bogiem, to było niezwykle szokujące.

 

Konkluzja Chrystusa zawierała smutek i rozczarowanie; jedynie prorok w swoim kraju jest odrzucany i nieakceptowany. Ze strachu o swoje życie Jezus został zmuszony do opuszczenia tego miejsca.

 

A teraz spróbujmy wrócić do dzisiejszych czasów, jak Jezus byłby dzisiaj powitany, w tym chrześcijańskim świecie?

 

To dobre pytanie, nasz kraj, Europa, tzw. Świat Zachodni zbudowano na fundamencie wartości, tradycji i kultury chrześcijańskiej.

 

Jako Europejczycy zawdzięczamy Imperium Rzymskiemu prawo, Grekom kulturę, filozofię i sztukę. Ale chrześcijaństwo przyniosło nam godność i wartości moralne. Kontynent ma korzenie chrześcijańskie, obecne w prawie i moralności.

 

Jezus Chrystus przychodzi do swojego ludu, a jak jest dzisiaj witany przez wielu? To wciąż jego ziemia. Czy ludzie rozumieją, że cały wszechświat należy do niego i to jest jego własność?

 

Obawiam się, że sytuacja z Nazaretu powtarza się od wielu lat. Odpowiedź brzmi na słowa Jezusa; czego chcesz od nas, to miejsce należy do nas, wiele osób trzyma się tej opinii. Odrzucenie Boga jest w dzisiejszych czasach tak silne, że posługując się porównaniem z Ewangelii, nie ma miejsca dla Boga, Chryste, nie upierać się, że jesteś Właścicielem świata i ludzkiego życia.

 

To smutne, że człowiek zajął miejsce Boga, mówiąc, że On nie jesteś dla mnie ważny. Mężczyzna uzurpuje sobie prawo do posiadania wszystkiego.

 

W tej ponurej wizji świata jest nadzieja, że ​​wszyscy ludzie nie są tacy sami. Podobnie jak w Atenach, niektórzy mówili św. Pawłowi, innym razem Cię posłuchamy, nieliczni uwierzyli w Boga, idąc za Apostołem Narodów.

Dzisiaj Bóg ma ludzi dobrej woli, którzy wciąż mówią, że Ty jesteś naszym Bogiem, potrzebujemy Cię. Ci ludzie są gotowi iść i głosić Dobrą Nowinę Jezusa. Chrystus ma nas i daje nam słowa, wyjdźcie do tego zsekularyzowanego świata, aby głosić w swoim życiu, że Ja jestem Mesjaszem, Obiecanym Synem Bożym.

 

 

  Jesteśmy światłem pośród ciemności niewiary, aby dać płomień Bożej obecności i łaski tym, którzy są zagubieni, bez żadnej nadziei. Jak św. Biskup Genewy Franciszek Salezy, który powiedział; głoszenie Ewangelii powinno odbywać się z miłością. To on pozyskał tysiące ludzi dla Kościoła katolickiego. Jezus Chrystus na nas polega; jesteśmy jego ambasadorami. Amen.
