The Nativity of Jesus Christ.... Uroczystość Bożego Narodzenie...

 

John 1:1-18

The Word was made flesh, and lived among us

In the beginning was the Word:

and the Word was with God

and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things came to be,

not one thing had its being but through him.

All that came to be had life in him

and that life was the light of men,

a light that shines in the dark,

a light that darkness could not overpower.

A man came, sent by God.

His name was John.

He came as a witness,

as a witness to speak for the light,

so that everyone might believe through him.

He was not the light,

only a witness to speak for the light.

The Word was the true light

that enlightens all men;

and he was coming into the world.

He was in the world

that had its being through him,

and the world did not know him.

He came to his own domain

and his own people did not accept him.

But to all who did accept him

he gave power to become children of God,

to all who believe in the name of him

who was born not out of human stock

or urge of the flesh

or will of man

but of God himself.

The Word was made flesh,

he lived among us,

and we saw his glory,

the glory that is his as the only Son of the Father,

full of grace and truth.

John appears as his witness. He proclaims:

‘This is the one of whom I said:

He who comes after me ranks before me

because he existed before me.’

Indeed, from his fullness we have, all of us, received –

yes, grace in return for grace,

since, though the Law was given through Moses,

grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ.

No one has ever seen God;

it is the only Son, who is nearest to the Father’s heart,

who has made him known.

Today we celebrate one the most expected time, the Memorial of the Birth of Jesus, the King of Peace. 

 

As we say in the Angelus Prayer, the word of God become flesh, the Eternal Son is one of us, He received human nature and shared our life. 

 

The miracle of Bethlehem comes true though the liturgical celebration of the Church which focuses on prayer and meditation about what God has done for us by giving us His Son. 

 

What happened in the past has some consequences today, because Jesus Christ trough the Holy Spirit descends on the Eucharistic Altar during every Mass. 

 

Let’s try do understand what happened 20 centuries ago. The city of the Jesus’ birth, Bethlehem, belonged to the Palestinian Region of the Roman Empire. It didn’t have a good opinion, as it was a very rebellious place which used to fight for the Independence  of Israel. 

 

The noble people of that time, especially the Romans, considered the whole Palestine to ba a country of the society of a lower dignity, making a lot of problems, both religiously and politically. 

 

The whole population of the Holy Land was broken, divided by the rank and material wealth. There was a lot of violence and harm made by the invaders from Rome. Jesus Christ came to that place, He was born in a stable, because many people refused to accept Him. He was humiliated from the very begging, but He brought us love, even though many people did not want Him.

 

And today the history repeats itself, it is like a circle. How does the world look like, is it better than in the past?  At some point, technologically and scientifically much better, but it is still the world full of fear, divisions, hatred and harm. Apart from that, quite a big number of people does not wait for Jesus, even on Christmas days. 

 

Despite the situation, He comes to us as an unwanted guest, like an intruder, because He knows that His presence is necessary for us, even when we says “no” to Him. 

 

That is what the good news is about, like in the land of Palestine 2000 years ago. The modern world needs Him, as there is still a lot of injustice, fear and violence. He is the King of Peace and Joy. 

 

He says: you need me, I know your hearts. I can take your anxiety and cure your wounds. 

 

I am coming, but will you open your hearts. The miracle of the Nativity is at hand, it may happen in our life, if we only wish it to happen. Amen.

Na początku było Słowo, a Słowo było u Boga, i Bogiem było Słowo. Ono było na początku u Boga. Wszystko przez Nie się stało, a bez Niego nic się nie stało, co się stało. W Nim było życie, a życie było światłością ludzi, a światłość w ciemności świeci i ciemność jej nie ogarnęła. Pojawił się człowiek posłany przez Boga, Jan mu było na imię. Przyszedł on na świadectwo, aby zaświadczyć o Światłości, by wszyscy uwierzyli przez niego. Nie był on światłością, lecz posłanym, aby zaświadczyć o Światłości. Była Światłość prawdziwa, która oświeca każdego człowieka, gdy na świat przychodzi. Na świecie było Słowo, a świat stał się przez Nie, lecz świat Go nie poznał. Przyszło do swojej własności, a swoi Go nie przyjęli. Wszystkim tym jednak, którzy Je przyjęli, dało moc, aby się stali dziećmi Bożymi, tym, którzy wierzą w imię Jego, którzy ani z krwi, ani z żądzy ciała, ani z woli męża, ale z Boga się narodzili. Słowo stało się ciałem i zamieszkało między nami. I oglądaliśmy Jego chwałę, chwałę, jaką Jednorodzony otrzymuje od Ojca, pełen łaski i prawdy. Jan daje o Nim świadectwo i głośno woła w słowach: „Ten był, o którym powiedziałem: Ten, który po mnie idzie, przewyższył mnie godnością, gdyż był wcześniej ode mnie”. Z Jego pełności wszyscyśmy otrzymali łaskę po łasce. Podczas gdy Prawo zostało nadane przez Mojżesza, łaska i prawda przyszły przez Jezusa Chrystusa. Boga nikt nigdy nie widział. Jednorodzony Bóg, który jest w łonie Ojca, o Nim pouczył.

Dziś obchodzimy jeden z najbardziej wyczekiwanych przez nas dzień, Pamiątkę Narodzin Jezusa Króla Pokoju.

Nawiązując do słów modlitwy „Anioł Pański”, Słowo Boże staje się ciałem, Wieczny Syn jest jednym z nas, przyjmując ludzką naturę.

Cud Betlejem urzeczywistnia się dzięki liturgicznej celebracji Kościoła, głównym miejscem Bożego Narodzenia jest modlitwa i medytacja w odnieniesiu do Bóga, dającego Swojego Syna.

To co wydarzyło się historii, ma swoje konsekwencje dzisiaj, bo Boże Narodzenie trwa nadal. Słowa konsekracji wypowiadane kapłana, przywołuje Jezusa Chrystusa przez moc Ducha Świętego, który stępuje na Ołtarz Eucharystyczny w każdej Mszy Świętej.

 

Spróbujmy zrozumieć co wydarzyło się 20 wieków temu. Betlejem, Palestyna,miasto narodzin Jezusa, nie miało zbitnio dobrej opinii w  Cesarstwie Rzymskim, jako miejsca bardzo zbuntowane, związanego z powstańczymi siłami zbrojnymi, które walczyły o Niepodległość Izraela.

W opinii ówczesnych ludzi, zwłaszcza Rzymian, cała Palestyna była krajem społeczeństwa o niższej godności, sprawiającym wiele problemów religijnych i politycznych, przez wielu uważana jako ziemia wygnania.

 Cała ludność Ziemi Świętej została podzielona według rangi i zamożności materialnej. Było wiele przemocy i krzywd wyrządzonych przez najeźdźcę z Rzymu. W to miejsce przyszedł w stajni Jezus Chrystus, choć wielu ludzi odmówiło przyjęcia Go. Bóg w osobie Syna Bożego został upokorzony od samego początku. Mimo tego, On w  swojej miłości zszedł na ziemię, wbrew wielu. 

A jak wygląda świat dzisiaj, czy jest lepszy niż w przeszłości? Technologicznie, naukowo dużo lepiej, ale to wciąż ten świat jest pełen strachu, podziałów, nienawiści i krzywd. Poza tym spora liczba osób nie czeka na Niego, na Boga, nawet w te dni świąteczne.

Mimo zaistniałej sytuacji On przychodzi, jako niechciany gość, jak intruz, bo wie, że Jego obecność jest potrzebna, nawet gdy człwiek mówi mu „nie”.

To jest Dobra Nowina, jak Palestyna sprzed 2000 lat, tak współczesny świat potrzebuje Jego przybycia do tego miejsca, gdzie jest dużo smutku, braku sprawiedliwości, strachu i ludzkiej traumy, On jest Królem Pokoju i radość.

Jezus mówi, potrzebujesz Mnie, aby żyć w pokoju, znam twoje serce bardziej niż ty. Mogę zabrać twój niepokój i uleczyć twoje rany. 

Przychodzę dzisiaj, ale zależy to od Ciebie, czy Twoje serce będzie otwarte. Cud Narodzenia jest na wyciągnięcie ręki, może się wydarzyć w twoim życiu teraz, jeśli chcesz. Amen.
