Matthew 11:25-30

You have hidden these things from the wise and revealed them to little children

Jesus exclaimed, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

  ‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

   “I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do”. 

Why does Jesus compare disciples to children? The tactics of Christ is very clear: the way of thinking and an attitude of a child is very simple and honest. Sometimes, when we ask a child about something, we may notice the simplicity and accuracy of the answer. 

So often we cannot understand God. It seems to us that God is far and His teaching is beyond our reach. Why? This question is leading us to the main point. Sometimes we pretend that we are somebody else. Very often we want to imitate some other people, we act as skilful philosophers before God and thus that we lose our real face. Many people are worried only about themselves, they want to change the God’s law in the name of modernity.

It is nowadays quite common, but at the same time deprives us from our humanity. We want to treat God like a partner, but Jesus says: if you want to know my Father, be like children - simple, honest and full of trust in God. 

We cannot be intelligent like God. If a man wants to be like God, or sometimes even better than Him, the results are very mere. It is easy to create a new teaching, which is completely on the contrary to the Gospel. 

We need child’s confidence and simplicity to find Jesus. Christ’s words do not leave any illusion, only people of humility can reach the God’s Kingdom. Our Saviour says: “Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No”. Mt 5,37. 

Jesus Christ, make my heart and mind simple and humble. Amen.

W owym czasie Jezus przemówił tymi słowami: Wysławiam Cię, Ojcze, Panie nieba i ziemi, że zakryłeś te rzeczy przed mądrymi i roztropnymi, a objawiłeś je prostaczkom. Tak, Ojcze, gdyż takie było Twoje upodobanie. Wszystko przekazał Mi Ojciec mój. Nikt też nie zna Syna, tylko Ojciec, ani Ojca nikt nie zna, tylko Syn, i ten, komu Syn zechce objawić. Przyjdźcie do Mnie wszyscy, którzy utrudzeni i obciążeni jesteście, a Ja was pokrzepię. Weźcie moje jarzmo na siebie i uczcie się ode Mnie, bo jestem cichy i pokorny sercem, a znajdziecie ukojenie dla dusz waszych. Albowiem jarzmo moje jest słodkie, a moje brzemię lekkie.

   „Wysławiam Cię, Ojcze, Panie nieba i ziemi, że zakryłeś te rzeczy przed mądrymi i roztropnymi, a objawiłeś je prostaczkom. Tak, Ojcze, gdyż takie było Twoje upodobanie”.

Dlaczego Jezus porównuje uczniów do dzieci? Taktyka Chrystusa jest bardzo jasna, myślenie i postawa dziecka jest bardzo prosta, uczciwa i pozbawiona kłamstwa. Czasami, jeśli pytamy dziecko o coś, możemy zauważyć prostotę i dokładność odpowiedzi.

Tak często jesteśmy rozdrażnieni, że nie możemy zrozumieć Boga, wydaje nam się, że Bóg jest daleko, a jego nauczanie jest poza naszym zasięgiem. Czemu? To pytanie prowadzi nas do sedna, ponieważ naśladuję kogoś, kim nie jestem. Bardzo często człowiek chce udawać przed Bogiem bardzo inteligentną osobę, dobrego i zręcznego filozofa, tracąc prawdziwe oblicze. Wielu ludzi dąży do zmiany prawa Bożego w imię nowoczesności.

Ta droga jest dość popularna i powszechna, ale pozbawiona prawdziwego doświadczenia Boga. Chcemy traktować Boga jak partnera na równi, ale Jezus mówi, jeśli chcesz poznać mojego Ojca w prawdzie, bądź jak dziecko, proste, uczciwe, ufające Bogu.

Nie możemy być tak inteligentni jak Bóg.  Jego mądrość przewyższa nasz umysł. Jeśli człowiek chce być jak Bóg, to prowadzi do postrzegania Chrystusa, które jest całkowicie sprzeczne z Ewangelią.

Potrzebujemy przejrzystości i prostoty dziecka, aby otrzymać dar Jezusa w pełni. Słowa Chrystusa nie pozostawiają złudzeń, tylko ludzie z pokorą mogą osiągnąć Królestwo Boże. Nasz Zbawiciel mówi: „Niech wasza mowa będzie: Tak, tak; nie, nie. A co nadto jest, od Złego pochodzi”. Mt 5,37.

Jezu Chryste, uczyń moje serce i umysł prostym i pokornym. Amen.
